    Which realm?

Elysums high pop is good, but it is tough to hit mining nodes when others are taking them.
  2. If the people at Blizzard had any brains, they'd have their own Vanilla servers up and running, charging people for separate accounts, and items and gold from other accounts cannot transfer to their Vanilla accounts. I wonder why they refuse to do this. What about hosting the servers on an Indian reservation in America, aren't they exempt?
  3. I just started my dwarf hunter on Elysium server, he's a miner and skinner. I leveled my original WoW characters with various professions, although I eventually switched Skinning for Engineering. I am amazed at how LOW the prices are on AH for the items I bring, which at level 11, is pretty much just Light Leather and Copper Bars. I'm doing good to get 1 Gold for a 20 stack of bars, and a 20 stack of leather is much lower than even that! Gonna be hard to make a lot of money to buy things at this rate. Not to mention that on this high pop server, there's many people farming ore and leather. I thought of switching to Herbalism from Skinning, but low level herb prices are very low too.
  4. I have to wonder just how much business these gold spammers get. They would have to be farming on Elysium to be able to sell gold here, correct? At any rate, they aren't going to get any sales from me, if I want to play with high level gear quickly I can just log into my normal WoW account and play my 106 hunter.
  5. I'm a data center technician, and I am interested in knowing what sort of servers and hardware this Vanilla WoW is running on. I don't need to know about the software, I have no interest in trying to hack into it, but it'd be cool to know what sort of server hardware is supporting this game. Server models, number of servers, CPUs, RAM, hard drives, connection type and speed? Thanks! :)
  6. Found this page today, it gives some general server hardware details. https://elysium-project.org/news/donations
  7. Ah, ok. Well, I thought I would make the offer, I don't know the details of what is where and Blizzard being all pissy about it. You'd think Blizzard would clear out a few of their older servers and charge people for a separate account to play Vanilla WoW on their completely authorized system, that is easy money for Blizzard. Everything is already in place to do it right, because they have already done it. Ever since they let Activision buy them, they went all corporate, and ceased being a game company for the gamer, now it is all about making the stockholders happy.
  8. I just signed up on the Elysium server and am leveling my dwarf hunter on mining and skinning. The minimap does not have the selector button to track ore nodes, repairs, people, mailboxes, etc, and on the login page I do not have the "AddOns" tab in the bottom left to select an addon like Gatherer. Is something broken or am I just not doing it right?
  9. From what I have seen, it seems like all the servers are over in Europe or somewhere over there. As a data center technician, I am capable of setting up a rack mount server at home, on a Verizon FIOS connection. I was thinking that having some USA based servers would help the lag time, are we able to volunteer servers for that? But I have no experience in databases, or Oracle, or SQL, or whatever the game runs on, so if the people running this game were able to remote access my server and load up whatever is needed, I could work with them on that. Is this a possibility? Essentially, I would handle the hardware side here, and they would do all the software stuff.
  10. Found it, it was in the spellbook under "Find Minerals". It's been a long time since I had to look for it that way!

    is mining worth it?

I used to do mining and herbing on one character in the real WoW game. I simply made 2 macros and put them next to each other on my action bar to start each type of tracking. It was a bit of a nuisance to constantly switch back and forth, but it works with 1 click.
