Testlord 2 Report post Posted August 9, 2016 (edited) it's only good for the player not the players. Think about the negatives here. Herb and mining node camping. This makes it easy to corner the herb market driving prices up and making players miserable Putting a level 60 on follow to help your alt level and disrupt the game for other players and ruining world pvp. If you ban this фекал gms can focus on important фекал rather than worrying if someone is breaking the rules. Think about it and it is easy to see it does more harm than good . Mandoss 4 Report post Posted August 9, 2016 I tend to agree with this however I think some minor concessions should be taken into consideration. A happy medium if you will No multiboxing (aka multiple accounts logged in from the same IP, not just controlled via a 3rd party program) with the following exceptions to be considered and dealt with on a case by case basis. - In a main city it should be allowed (trading materials to and from a bank account, ect) - Inside instances so people may run alts through a dungeon if they so choose (NOT OPEN WORLD) - Mage services (providing portals/food/water to an alternate account) - World Boss Camping as long as that is all the account is doing (lets be honest, people will do it anyways and they will find ways of bypassing traditional methods of being caught such as using a VPN on one account so the two cannot be linked together anyways) the things I would wish to avoid is having a multiboxer with 5+ level 60's running around controlled by one person, even if its kept out of battlegrounds its still against the spirit of the game and ruins world pvp opportunities. Also having a level 60 following an alt around to assist leveling in open world should be prevented due to it being disruptive to the leveling experience providing an unfair advantage to the player with the 60 (in terms of making it impossible for another leveler to fight the player in pvp or to contest them for mob spawns/resource spawns). Essentially the Nostalrius stance on it PLUS allowing instance running of alts and allows guilds to more actively keep an eye on world boss spawns which would in turn generate more competition for those bosses and more opportunities for engaging large scale world pvp to claim the world boss kill.

On the contrary, I think if you disallow the practice entirely, it will be much easier for GM's to determine unruly usage of logging in multiple characters, because all usages would be against the rules. Cutting down on the amount of reports, by making evading the automatic systems significantly harder, would also make manually report the few remaining offenders much easier. The technical know how to run two clients on two different IP's from the same computer/router is not that trivial and thus only a limited amount of people would both be capable and willing to actually pull it off. Since they would be far and few in between, this essentially makes them stick out a lot more. Finally, consider this: Back in retail, barely anybody was willing to pay for multiple accounts, we're talking about a fraction of a fraction of a percent of all players here. Servers were lucky to have a single player doing it on them. It is overwhelmingly more blizzlike to disallow the practice than to allow it. The actual advantages that are left if you disallow all the questionable stuff is also really minor. The benefits just aren't there if you remove the overpowered stuff. There really isn't a point to allowing it at all, if you look at the greater picture, the impact on the server and the real tangible benefits you can get from allowing it.
Nevyn 1 Report post Posted August 9, 2016 I think there is a happy medium where it would satisfy the majority and not just people that oppose it. First things first as its been stated before Multiboxing is when a software program called Multi-box is being used to control multiple accounts with 1 key press, I think this should not be allowed period for obvious reasons. Now duel-accounting and I use this word because that is what it is, it was not uncommon in retail to have 2 accounts and in my opinion having 2 accounts is not a terrible thing as mandos stated above. Herb and mining node camping. this will happen regardless if you have more than 1 account, you can do this with even 1 account. As for comparison the incredibly anticipated crestfall server that will be coming out is allowing 2 accounts per VPN, now obviously theres ways around this but the majority will not abuse this rule, I think their rule is fair and understandable. You should only allow 2 accounts per vpn , So you avoid mass exploiting but still keep options open for people that prefer to play 2 accounts. You do not want to appeal to a minority, you should come up with a medium to satisfy the mass to keep the population healthy. Maybe create a strawpoll of some sort if you cannot decide on your own. since it is blizz-like I am pro duel-accounting. aswell as it is accepted on Crestfall projoect and they have a much larger audience so you can see that its not a bad thing.
Redcap 6 Report post Posted August 10, 2016 A player able to control more than one character at once in open world has a pair of problems, one of them noted above already. Players using automated software to keyclone actions to 3-5 characters at once have to be recorded by video for evidence before a report can be submitted to get them off the server, and even then I've seen players who were reported claim "omg I just alt tab between acounts REALLY quick so no ban lol." and reports get dismissed. So either be ready to kick players out for not following the rules or discard the rules entirely. It's that simple. The other problem is Warlocks and their summon spell. Competitive guilds will level up batches of Warlock accounts to 20 and then park them in different world locations to assist with mobilizing for world Dragons or other raid events, or shutting out guilds in zones (silithus) with PvP gatherings. The only recourse for other guilds to deal with this is to rush mule Warlock accounts to use against them. This is the kind of crap going on back with Kronos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSyNitNQDas Stack warlocks in a place where monsters can't aggro them, AoE down mob packs, instant Summon spell mule accounts created. I couldn't stand Nostalrius server but their ban of all Multiboxing (players playing more than one account at a time) was their best move. Going without it makes your server = funserver that has nothing to do with classic raiding from old retail servers. Good luck.

Queeky 58 Report post Posted August 10, 2016 Greetings, everyone! I believe it is adequate to clear this up once and for all: Our ruleset clearly prohibits multiboxing (defining it as controlling multiple characters via software or macros, for the sake of annoying people or gaining an unfair advantage) and limits multiaccounting to two simultaneously active accounts per users with which said user can only engage in solo Player versus Enviornment activities. You may not multiaccount for the purpose of disrupting the server's safety or to influence the other players' gaming experience. An important point in our rules and regulations is that any actions the staff deems inappropriate will also be dealt with regardless if they are mentioned in the ruleset or not. With that being said, it is safe to assume that attempting to bypass our rules either by exploiting their wording or going to great lenghts to break them will earn you an account suspension. I'll go ahead and lock this topic because of its potential to start a flame war. Sincerely, Queeky.
