Suzerain 91 Report post Posted August 13, 2016 We're writing this post to address some issues from the players about Elysium. There have been concerns about our core, the PTR, and launch day. We are for the community, and for that reason we have decided to not only address all these concerns, but also to be completely transparent about them. Let's talk about the core. The original project our team started on was the Valkyrie server. This server is, as of now, 7 years old. It has been worked on by 10 different developers, all with different levels of experience. The Valkyrie core could be referred to as a Frankenstein, of sorts. To elaborate, IT'S ALIVE — but barely. If you've ever seen electrical work that's been done over the course of years by different people, you will understand my meaning. However, it functions. There was a problem, though. AQ 40 and Naxx would not be possible to script on this old core. It was decided, by the developers, that it would be far easier, and far more effective to create a new core than to try and force new content onto the old one. This new core will be far more flexible and nimble when it comes to adding new content and scripting. It's using a 'code standard' which makes it much easier for current and new devs to pick up the trail and build upon it. Now as to how this comes into play with the Elysium server. Valkyrie is a mostly Russian server. However, there were a few English players. Where there are English players, there must be English GMs and devs. These English staff members decided it would be a great idea to create an international server, and since this new core is much better, let's use it instead of the old one! Of course, this does have its drawbacks. While most things were transferable from old core to new -- not all things were. These things that were not transferable, they are what you recognize as being 'bugs' or 'poor scripting' on the PTR. For example: Some things in BRD are not properly scripted in the bar. On Valkyrie, BRD was completely and fully scripted, but during the transfer, not all of the dots lined up. So what? Bugs are bugs, right? Well, no. These are problems that our devs have fixed before, and they can fix them again. They don't have to discover a cure, they just need to administer the vaccination. That being said, all correctly reported bugs (https://elysium-project.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=21644#entry234846) will be fixed, as fast as humanly possible. This brings us to issues within the PTR. We left the PTR open for players to test for things that didn't transfer. This proved to be a bad decision in some ways. It was a mistake in the sense that it gave players the wrong impression of what to expect. On the other hand, it did help us to find more bugs faster, so much good did come from it. While we're not trying to hide our flaws from the public, we also don't want them to succumb to knee-jerk reactions based on the first problem they encounter. To undo some of the doubt: All appropriate content will be ready on time. While the overwhelming majority of things work perfectly already, as you are leveling, we will be starting from the starting zones working our way up in regards to things that don't. Even if you have seen bugs in the PTR, by the time you get to that level they will be eradicated. BWL, ZG, and AQ40 will not be available at launch (as per Blizzard's release), and while they are all mostly scripted, there will be plenty of time to perfect them before their far distance launches. Onyxia and MC are almost perfect as is, and any polish that remains will be done well before anyone steps foot into them. And don't worry, all raids will be tested until we can't sleep before opening. No raid will ever be released broken. It seems that largely it is an issue of trust, which is the driving factor behind this post. People are still hurting from recent tragedies in the private server world. However, we assure you we are not like the others. The Valkyrie realm has been going for SEVEN years. What other project can boast such a legacy? This is not some bait and switch in which we try to lure you in with false promises. There is no chance of us disappearing over night, or ever giving up on our project, either. This is a team seven years in the making that is here to make the best server this community has seen. And every single one of you is welcome to join us on this journey. Every server's launch begins with bumps, but no server's future will be as bright as ours. The only thing driving the team here is our passion for Vanilla WoW. The server has not made a single penny during the 7 years of existence, but instead has cost the staff creating it. The developers and staff do everything for the love of those who share our passions and have been looking for a home, and such people will always be accepted with open arms.
That Druid 6 Report post Posted August 13, 2016 I'm sceptical about any allegations people make whether you should play here or not and the PTR state since the server is not launched. And even then if I see few problems I don't mind ignoring them some time - we are the pirates anyway. I'm all about the journey and what really matters is the potential of a project imo. But those are some very loud statements you made There is no chance of us disappearing over night, or ever giving up on our project, either. This is a team seven years in the making that is here to make the best server this community has seen. And every single one of you is welcome to join us on this journey. Every server's launch begins with bumps, but no server's future will be as bright as ours. Now I'm waiting for this future and I hope some serious steps will be made to reach this future soon
