Ramberk 1 Report post Posted November 6, 2016 Disclaimer: I know this is a rather controversial idea but please hear me out. The upcoming announced plans for the new realms have provided excellent solutions to a large portion of the player base as those who had a character on Nost can return to their former glory and the many players seeking a fresh Vanilla experience will have a clean realm. However, this solution leaves the "middle group" of players who had put a non-neglectable amount of playtime into Elysium with a tough choice. (I am refering to players who do not have a Nost character and are currently on level 40+ on Elysium or that have just hit 60. They can either: a. Move to the new merged realm and get thrown into a server populated by a lot of geared out 60s and have a feeling of being "Behind the curve". b. Roll a new character on the fresh server which can be extremely depressing after just spending about 10 days of /played on Elysium for nothing. Neither of these options seem particularly appealing to me so I propose a third option: Let characters who aren't 60 on Elysium or that have a /played time of less than X move their characters to the fresh realm. I understand that no matter where you make the cut for such an idea some players will be left out and some on the new realm will now feel that they are starting from behind but in my opinion this is smaller portion of the total players affected by this situation and the gap itself is smaller. Where exactly to make this cut is another topic that I currently leave in the air.Does anyone relate to this situation? What are your opinions on this idea?Thank you for your time!
Motorbreath 923 Report post Posted November 7, 2016 Personally, I've never had much problem leaving my characters behind and moving on to a new realm. After eleven years it became kind of a habit actually. But I prefer to think, that the journey is just more important than reaching the destination. At least to me and at that point. I've left my Sulfuras MC geared shammy, Zin'Rokh+Ironfoe warrior and Polished Ironwood Crossbow hunter all with r10 and exalted battleground reputations back at Valkyrie, almost BiS pre-raid priest and 30+ rogue with AB&WSG revered back at Nost, and many, many before that. The thing is - I don't feel like progressing past some point anymore. Kind of not interested in raiding or rank farming. I didn't have much problem gathering groups at Elysium: it was kind of exactly my speed actually. And I didn't get past that point on neither of my current characters yet. So, even though starting from scratch is not much of a problem to me, I'd honestly prefer to keep playing those just like I was. While moving on deliberately is a good thing, being forced to is not. I also care about my character's identity, because Nost guys will most likely have the rights on most of the names I reserved for myself and was looking forward to level just because of that, even though it was their 10th mule character created months after Nost start and they will probably never play it after the database revival. I'd propose the very same /played system for that, but that's not the point of this comment. After all, it all is a huge step forward for the whole classic scene, and we'll figure something out eventually. The point is, and that's the last thing I wanted to say: I like the /played idea, I was thinking about it myself. And, even though it may disappoint some people willing to start from scratch to get realm first lvl 60 or something, I think it will actually be better if some players would be able to get transfered to the fresh realm. Of course, some will use it as a free head start, but people never progress simultaneously anyway - while some go forth, the others got left behind. Having some slowly progressing people ahead can as well be a good option for the least.

Motorbreath 923 Report post Posted November 7, 2016 What is the point of a fresh realm if you transfer old char's? The same as reviving nost playerbase actually. Giving people a choise. I'd prefer keeping Elysium alive along with the creation of the fresh realm, but it seems like it's not a part of the discourse currently. Even though being the best option widening-the-choise-wise.
That Druid 6 Report post Posted November 7, 2016 PvP+Elysium; PvE; Fresh PvP Actually I can't imagine a better solution that apparently would please the most of the players. I had two 60s on Nost PvP and just reached 60 with another character on Ely maybe a month ago. Still looking forward to start on a new server if there will be one. Just remember that launch day on Nost PVP with 3(?)k people in game and crowded started areas, that competition and fun. New friends, a lot of players to collaborate with, opportunity to visit and enjoy unpopular low lvl instances like Blackfathom Depths you'd skip otherwise. And that reaction you get when you tag every single quest mob with moonfire right in front of low tier classes (warriors, rogues, priests, warlocks, paladins, mages, shamans and hunters) mmmm just priceless. I believe what administration is planning right now is the best way to handle the situation. Not sure only if all three (or two) servers should go live at the same time.

Theo1143 2 Report post Posted November 8, 2016 a. Move to the new merged realm and get thrown into a server populated by a lot of geared out 60s and have a feeling of being "Behind the curve". b. Roll a new character on the fresh server which can be extremely depressing after just spending about 10 days of /played on Elysium for nothing. A ) If you level a new character whenever you hit 60 you still will have exactly that feeling of being behind the curve. That is just how the game works... Long story short "feeling of being behind the curve" isn't an solid excuse to mine opinion. B ) Being honest knowing what I know now I don't even feel like playing anymore, hear me out first... I'm looking for a rpg mmo since there is none out there at the moment and wow, don't get me started on that one... Now I knew this was already coming so that is why I did hold my breath in the hopes of blizzard making it official. But still, if they don't do it then someone else will so I was happy about nostalgia announcement. Looked up this server and started playing and will I really enjoyed me time once again after the first server announcement it was all over. Something along the lines of "everyone before 6-11 will be able to transfer their character over to the nostalgia server" so the rest not. As mentioned already before when the nostalgia server comes up there are loads already running with gear and everything else. And beside that the people who played on this server before got there characters too, but we are left in the cold. So I got now 2 options, play x weeks for nothing knowing everything I do will end up in the binn or stop playing. I really hope the devs change their mind and give us an option to transfer only lvl 60s or,,, only from level xx and above. Meaning you will never get huge queues and only the people spending the time can transfer their character.
Theo1143 2 Report post Posted November 8, 2016 (edited) No it's not. Fresh should be all start on level 1. No progress. And exactly... this is how it should be. but since it isn't gonna be like that... Get at least 2 servers 1 is clean "NO TRANSFER POSSIBLE" and 2 is the old clan coming together having fun. (down side is this splits the community but we also don't know how big it is gonna be after nos is back...) Edited November 8, 2016 by Theo1143
