My favorite was back in the day I was leveling my priest and getting camped hard by a rogue (cant remember his name to save my life). Had a few guildies Avishem - Mage, and Creator - Warlock) who were already 60 come and chase him off after about an hour and a half and didn't see him again for months.

Well the day came, and Avishem, Creator and myself (now 60) decided to be jerks and camp the boat from BB to Ratchet. Avishem would sheep if there was more then 1 on the boat, Creator would fear my target as I Mind Controlled them off the boat just before the point where the zone map showed (transfer screen). Low and behold, the same rogue who camped me was there this day. We did our typical routine and laughed for a good 2-3 minutes. Well about 20 minutes later, we were still at it, and he gets back on the boat. Lather rinse repeat for about 4-5 times. I then got a message from a level 1 horde (mind you this is back when you had to have 2 accounts to have opposite factions on the server) Cussing me out calling me every name he could think of. He explained that because of where he was tossed off he had to corpse run 2-3 times each time I tossed him off (fatigue was killing him cause it was dark blue waters hahahah). we laughed for months on this. I will never forget my reply "Sucks to be camped and screwed with huh? Please insert another quarter and try again."

I realize not many will find this too humorous or even enjoy it, but it was one of my favorite retail vanilla moments.

The first character I ever played was a NE Rogue. I leveled to 16 in Teldrassil and stayed in the zone because I thought that was the entire in-game world (which made sense at the time since it took a while to run from Shadowglen to Darnassus). I found out how to duel people early on and would challenge random people around Dolanar and beat them easily, thinking I was the best at this game since no one was close to my level. That started my love of PvP for this game! Dueling people is, to this day, a favorite past-time of mine. Eventually a friend of my brother logged on and we chatted for a bit. I noticed his character was a human and I was amazed because I had rarely seen any humans in Teldrassil, but when I opened my map to locate him, the arrow pointed off screen. That's when I realized you could right click the map to zoom out. Suffice to say, I lost my mind when I saw I was actually on a small island at the top of the map compared to the massive continent I had yet to even discover! However, my human friend was STILL not on the map, so I right clicked again and, once more, lost my ABSOLUTE MIND when I found out there were TWO ENORMOUS CONTINENTS of the game to explore.

Eventually, I found the boat to Auberdine...

My first character was a warlock. I wanted to be a shadow mage, essentially, and didn't really understand that warlock playstyle wasn't just a duplicate of the mage playstyle with a shadow theme, and that I was supposed to be using dots. Dots seemed way too slow for me to make sense, so I made it to about level 20 spamming shadowbolt and continuously pulling aggro off my voidwalker until I started complaining that locks were terrible. A 60 slapped the stupid out of me and explained how the class worked, and I was disappointed to learn that I couldn't just shadowbolt nuke stuff to death.

Now 11 years later, I'm raiding on a private server mashing the shadowbolt button for three hours a night and wishing that I could at least have a rotation.
