Special character names

Why can't we have special characters in names such as "ß"? My character used to have this and it's forcing me to change name. If you try to make a new character with "ß" it says "Names must be no more than 12 characters".

I recieved an answer on this from an administrator; "Unfortunately, you cannot use special characters anymore".

The first thing the forum says about this whole project is they're trying to be as "blizzlike" as possible. Why remove a feature?
I know the team has loads of other more important things to do, I am just curious, this is no rant.

A few people on here got really emotional about it saying they can't report people because of it (if they have to report that many people maybe they should look at the common denominator) , they also said it makes it more difficult to add people with special letters to a group. And since the server populations are clearly lacking, they wouldn't have the option of simply ignoring people with special characters in their names.

Long story short, Elysium caved and It should be taken as a red flag to some degree.

Edit: I just want to add if there is a name that you REALLY want you can Start the name with an  " i " and end it with an " L" and it makes it look like the name in brackets sorta

for example   Crowley was taken , so I made   Icrowleyl   not perfect but it gets the job done if you want the name and we aren't given alternatives.
