Chat Bug: "Player is already on the channel"

This is a bug that happened in some servers (Nostalrius for example). The game thinks you are still on a channel and you can't talk. But this time it is a worse bug, as I will explain:

 

I know one way to fix it is to make /leave and /join, but that only fixes it for that logging session. If I relog, I get the same bug again.

However, (at least on Nostalrius), if you had this bug, you could /leave and /join the channel and then relog completely (closing the client) 1-2 times to fix it permanently (it used to bug when the server crashed and you didn't close the client before relogging).

 

But I can't reproduce that on this server.

 

So, I thought it was some problem with some addon/config/WTF, so I deleted Interface, WTF and WDB and tested it, and got the exact same errors:

 

 

1. First login on the game, it automatically joined channels 1-2-3

 

2. I tried to talk in /4, or /join it, but I couldnot (the server thought i was still on it) so I did /leave LookingForGroup.

Then it said a weird number after the name of the channel:

 

3. I manually /join LookingForGroup

 

4. I logout (with "ESC" option, not force-closing the client), then quit (on loading screen), open client again and log in my char again.

But, as I said, I can't talk on /4. (Need to do /leave and /join again, everytime I logout from the character)

 

5. For some reason, sometimes it doesn't say "player is already on channel" (like on step 4), but other times it does. I tried the same process as above with World, and it said this when I relogged.

 

6. I also tried waiting 5 minutes between each relog and testing, as the server has at the moment a "grace period" of 3 minutes where you can bypass the queue. But that didn't fix it anyway.

 

 

 

So, it's not a problem about addons, WTF or cache, and you need to /leave + /join EVERYTIME you log to server, or change characters.

(And many other threads about the "same" bug Nostalrius, but, as I said, this is a worse bug, because you could fix it forever just with one /leave /join on Nost, not needing to do it everytime you login like here)

So, any idea what could be happening? I'm also confused about the weird number (on step number 2 above).

I've always had this bug on Nostalrius aswell. I always have to /leave world, /join world every time I log in. I think the problem is related to the chat-addon called "Prat" but I simply havent been bothered to test it.

 

Do you use Prat aswell?

I reproduced this bug without any addons, Interface or WTF folder.

Also I used Prat on Nost without any problems. Yes, I used Prat on elysium too, but as I said I tested this without Prat and without any other addon

More info:

 

1)The server crashed and I was offline for 10-20 min. When I logged back in, there was no bug -> but it bugged when I relogged

2) I went to sleep, when I connected after 10 hours, there was no bug -> but it bugged when I relogged

 

So it seems it may be related about the server thinking the char is online more time than "needed".
Maybe related with the "grace period" where u can bypass the queue?
(Note that the grace period is said to be of "3 minutes", and I checked waiting 5 minutes (more than the grace period) and found the same bug.
But the server may have an "internal" bigger timer for the chats.

Same issue(s) here. I have the german client installed. LookingForGroup worked several times, but thats it.

I´m able to read and write in /s /y /w & /p. Writing in channels by number works, but I guess i´m alone in

those channels, because there´s no reaction to my questions. I´m on Nostalrius-PvE.

 

Leaving & joining and deleting the chat.wtf doesn´t work for me. Would be great, if you`ll able to fix this.

 

Nevertheless I really enjoy playing on your server. Thanks for your work and passion,

Any update by now? Deleted WTF & WDB, didn´t help.

I changed to the english client. Now everything seems alright. But only with new 

WTF & WDB-folders. Using the old folders leads to the described issues.

Probably this info might help, if there´s somebody with the same problems.

Nope, I'm using english client, and as I said, I tried with no addons or WTF folder, clean install of english client

Did you try relogging to check if u can still write on channels?

 

This is happening to everyone I ask atm

Hi Karrier, I logged in & out several times since I switched to the english client. The problem hasn´t occured again.

So I have no clue what the real reason seems to be and it might show up again. Sorry I could not help you. 

 

The only extra information I can provide is, that in my case I could at first communicate via /w /y /s & /p (as written above),

but that changed in the end. I couldn.t even see my own messages in the chat window. Then I decided to switch the client.

This won´t help you either, but porbably it helps the ones, who are or will be trying  to solve the problem.

 

If I get a clue or the issues show up again, I´ll report it here. And good luck for you.
