Choosing a Realm

OK, this is probably one of those noob type silly questions, but bear with me as others may be in a similar situation.

 

I go to the WoW launch page, login, and then I get asked to choose a PvE realm. I let the server choose for me. It gives me QA Test Realm 1.5.

 

I then go to register on this realm, only to find it greyed out, only the Nostalrus realms being available.

 

Now I know most of you are thinking "choose Nostalrus then, dummy!", but it is described as high population, and I would prefer a less crowded realm if a choice were available.

 

Will the Test Realms eventually be opened, or is Nostalrus the only available realm until Elysium launches sometime in 2017?
