B1AcKkN1GhT 0 Report post Posted December 20, 2016 Hi all, Just wondering what latency you are all getting? Mine sits at around 1700 which is pretty much unplayable. Currently in Australia, not sure why it is so high, does anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks, Chad.
jamezy007 0 Report post Posted December 20, 2016 (edited) Hi Chad, Currently being in Australia myself I know all about latency issues with international servers. Several Australian ISP's have very poor international routes as well as BGP throttling during peak times which causes services/packets such as the ones for gaming in WOW to have a low priority and thus lesser bandwidth. Are you by any chance with Optusnet? Thanks, James Edited December 20, 2016 by jamezy007
Storfan 24 Report post Posted December 20, 2016 (edited) 1700 i WAY to high even for Australia. If you've been having this kind of latency constantly since server release it's mostly likely something wrong on your end and/or at your ISP. Latency spikes isnt unheard of though due to the MASSIVE population of the server as well as constant DDoS-attacks. I play with an average of 40-80ms (Sweden and 100/100mbit/s). Australia should under ideal conditions have around 150-300ms probably. Try installing leatrix latency-fix, this changes the way network packages related to WoW from TCP to UDP meaning alot less overhead and potentially halving your latency under ideal conditions. B1AcKkN1GhT 0 Report post Posted December 20, 2016 Hi guys, thanks for the reply! Yes, I am with Optus but not for long! New ISP change happens in the next couple of days with Internode. So fingers crossed this fixes it but I'll also download that leatrix and see if that helps. Thought I would see what everyone else is getting, I'll post in a couple of days and give an update
jamezy007 0 Report post Posted December 24, 2016 Yeah Optusnet has severe international congestion. I've now moved to a Business Grade Fibre and have no such problems. The latency I have is around 170ms which is fantastic. As Storfan mentioned above I am also using leatrix latency-fix to achieve this PING. Let us know how it goes =)
