Paladin - PVE Roles

Recommended Posts

So I just started a character on the PVE server and I'm wondering if paladins are able to tank or if that is just reserved for warriors?  I know the original vanilla wow it was like that, I'm wondering if they have made any balance changes so that paladins can do anything but heal?  Thanks!

Unfortunately no on tanking. Paladin tanking became possible in BC, but didn't really become viable until WotLK. Paladins in Vanilla will be healers and buff bots.

Paladins in vanilla are the best dungeon tanks in game. But as for raids they don't have a taunt so its rough. U can prolly find a guild that would let u raid prot but u got to go balls to the walls consumable wise to make it remotely work. Ret pallies are the same way, got to get every consumable u can to be competitive.

In a raid its a decent idea to have a Prot paladin for things like picking up big packs of mobs.

I see them more of a luxury than an necessity, something that wouldnt get first dibs on tanking gear but something that definitely brings nice utility to some situations.

I have a prot paladin and I mainly use it for 5mans, they are 5man heroes lol

Tanking: good for 5man, good for tanking trash mobs in certain Raids but are very mana hungry. Have fun drinking after every encounter.

Personally I prefer them in BC, that's where they shine the most (tank-wise), in Vanilla Holy is more enjoyable, for me at least (not saying its better or anything). They are great MT healers and mana-efficient, also buff bots.

Killerduki can explain the rest :D
