Best way to make gold?

Was planning on doing mining as my source(I know herb is probably better but went mining cause of engineering). AH shows ore and bars DIRT cheap, pennies, a stack of for 1g or less?!

 

I'm leveling through on my mage and I was going to farm as a I leveled up and sell the cloth and other stuff I got but even the cloth mats are pennies. Is this due to the gold farmers? Or has it always been so cheap? Just want to know as im level 26 with only ~6g, and Im just wondering if I'll make enough for mount at 40 or even spells as I level. I am looting everything and vendoring everything I dont need, but is there a way to make a bit o' cash, I dont mind to farm a bit Im in no rush to get to 60.

Hi.

For the cost of items on the ah this depends on which server, the pvp server being the original Nost server will have a lot of transfered high level if not 60 characters which has months to get their profession's at a high level, this may be impacting the cost of items.

I would personally say you are going down the right track, skinning and mining are two of the best for your first toon, there are addons that can show you the vendor cost of an item so you can check if it may be worth just vendoring what you would be selling on the AH in the first place, remember you need to take into account deposit costs which if the stack doesn't sell you don't get back.

Focus on decent sized bags, get 8 slots asap, if you can get more due to them being cheap get them.

Loot everything from mobs, the pennies add up from trash items and some grey and white trash items can be worth a decent amount.

If you look it up you can find plenty of tips and tricks to look at.
