Elysium Pros and Cons

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to say I can't wait for the launch January 7th! I know it's going to be mayhem during the launch, probably a lot of lag and server queues, but so many more pros than cons. I've made a blog post on my site about Elysium and how i'm pumped for it. I'd like to hear everyone's input and see what you all think I should add to the pros and cons!

The post can be seen here

A quick breakdown of the pros and cons of the fresh server:

Pros:

-Experience WoW like it was when it first released, with patch 1.2. Many players agree that this was the best time for WoW and the game’s community
-Progress through the patches as they were released in real-time. New patches will be released to update the content in the same way they came out back in 2004-2006 era.
-Live through the nostalgic feelings of seeing it all over again, or see it for the first time
-Play through the much harder version of WoW in comparison to retail WoW today, challenging and unforgiving content
-Try out a class you never had the chance to try
-Play for free, no purchase cost, no monthly fee, just download it
-Meet thousands of people who are interested in the community aspect of vanilla gameplay
-Try to keep up with the best in terms of leveling and downing raid bosses server-first
-Experience the honor system the way it used to be (can be considered pro or con depending on your position, personally it is a pro for me)

Cons:

-It will be extremely crowded in-game, probably laggy, and there will be long queue times for the first few weeks after launch
-It could eventually be shut down due to financial or legal issues
-May eventually have population die off – though Nostalrius was up for a long time without that issue
-Some classes are unbalanced in PvE and PvP during vanilla days, so you may suffer from being one of the tougher classes in that regard, choose wisely

EDIT:

Some people have suggested simply search instead of creating this thread. I did read some threads on this topic, however, I wanted people to read what I've written and hear feedback for my blog. I am hoping to help Elysium get more traffic in the future as well to attract people who many not know about the server yet, and they may find my blog and be directed to it.

With input from fellow members here, I can improve my post and make it more accurate for new players navigating to the server. When I share it on my social media, people will be more informed of what the server will be like.

Thanks.

Cons - racist spam, bigotry spam, edgelords, memelords, 25+ year olds acting like 15 year olds, buttheads not grouping you for kill quests, buttheads trying to group you when you're grinding, not getting any sleep for 2 days straight

Did I miss anything?

To be honest, I don't think that is going to be any different than you see on the main Nost servers. You are going to get toxic scum anywhere you go, and you are going to get elitist jerks wherever you go as well.

this is like the 34th or 57th thread like this

do yourself a favor and do a search or browse through the scores of other threads from the past weeks with exactly the same "conversation" going on, you'll find much better company

the cons and pros are accurate, another con i'd put in though is the vanilla experience will never really be 100% especially with all the bugs and stuff.

and yes we will always have the issue of immature players. often we get lots of complainers to because their not accustomed to the older version of wow witch is more challenging then the current, where they practically hand u a near max lvl toon and new ones are easy to level

Do people really complain about the difficulty? I haven't played on a vanilla private server in a long time, so I haven't experienced that really. Its pretty funny though that they would go for vanilla knowing its way more difficult than retail; but I guess not everyone knows that, if they have never actually played vanilla before
