cybaster 31 Report post Posted January 3, 2017 Let's assume for a moment that the unthinkable happens and Activision-Blizzard somehow exerts enough monetary/legal/political might to forcibly take your servers offline. How would you react? I'd like to point out that a lot of confidence in the Elysium/Nostalrius project stemmed from the ability to reincarnate characters from a dead server. That practice also sends a powerful, even essential message to Blizzard: You cut off one head of the hydra, and others will spring up in its place. As we're probably seeing the Nostalrius end of things going AWOL and abandoning the completely essential token system, the reincarnation has stopped. That tells Blizzard that legal weight is an effective strategy to stopping projects like this. It makes it that much more likely that they'll try to move against Elysium. So, do you guys have contingency plans to preserve your work, if the unlikely happens? Are you creating the backups necessary to pass the torch on to a new team? Do you have people who are both willing and able to manage a token system long after the fact? ... Response difficulty level: No childish WERE INVULNERABLE HERE!! NO LAWYER CAN STOP US!!! Rules get bent and broken when enough money's involved.
