Not Tech Savvy / Cannot Open Client

I've been trying for the past hour and a half to open up the client but each time I try to open through Torrent I'm given a message reading -

Unable to load: "World of Warcraft 1.12 Client.rar": unknown error!

I've gone through some forum discussions and tried redownloading the files three times in total. What am I missing? I could really use some help!

Hey, do you have Winrar? The folder is compressed, or a "zip file". You need to unzip it and place the folder somewhere. Have you done that?

Funny enough I read your response saying that in another discussion about an hour ago. I ended up installing RAR Opener since I couldn't find a safe WinRAR download, but I don't understand how to use it to unzip and place the folder somewhere. I'm still willing to download WinRAR if need be.

You can download winrar from here: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm 

Once it is downloaded, all you need to do is double click your file, and it will open up a folder. Take that folder, and drag it anywhere like your desktop or documents or just wherever you want. Let me know how it goes

Sorry to keep you waiting, never done this before! I opened the "World of Warcraft Client.rar" file with WinRAR, and now I see all of the files 'packed' in it. Have I gone too far?

You haven't. Just find the "extract" option and select the folder where you want your game to be. Aaand you are ready to go ;o

Okay! I hit 'Extract To' and my options are pulled up. Anything to worry about with these update modes, overwrite modes, etc...?

Also I don't know if you are aware but there is a massive hackfest going on to people who have used the same acc information in previous servers, so if you also use an old combination I highly recommend you to change your password before start doing anything

Nah... Just extract and play. I am just not really sure if you have to change the realmlist , because I am not on my PC to check :/

Oh, that's scary. I believe I'll be in the clear with that though. Once I get in, of course! I'm extracting the files and they just finished. Thanks a bunch, I should've come to the forums earlier.

Don't worry about any of that stuff, just go ahead and extract it and then continue following the instructions, everything should work fine!
