Smashums/Beh 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 Hi so my game gets into the game into Orgrimmar and I see my character's interface for about 2 seconds and then i get DC. I changed the resolution one time and the option i chose caused the whole game to blank out and id see my desktop... I did some troubleshooting myself and changed the config file in WTF to 800x600 then this is when it all went wrong. I tried reinstalling and deleting WTF folder. I can now get into the game for a bit if I restart the computer and load it with its settings i have it in windowed mode now to just use desktop settings. But now I got disconnected and it starts happening again I can only get back in the game now if I restart my laptop. It's also connected to my TV but i dont think that has anything to do with it. I feel like its something wrong with the config file that has happened to it and is causing my character to get auto kicked.

Shiamorah 20 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 Nothing looks abnormal there... Do you know the specific error you get? Do you have time to get into game and then Video Options and reset to default?
Smashums/Beh 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 i have no time to change any options, thanks for the quick replys btw!
Shiamorah 20 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 Can you log into the control panel on the website? Do you know where you are when you log in? It is possible that you logged out at a bad time like when falling and speed detecting keeps kicking you. If you can get in using your laptop, can you try to use that and then change your settings from there?
patches 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 I'm actually experiencing similar problems and this is the first information online I've found with people talking about it so I hope you don't mind if I piggyback. I've gone through the same steps as before and I am still experiencing disconnects too. It's a brand new character as well, this is my first time trying vanilla WoW, so I don't think the position of my character is an issue.
Shiamorah 20 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 It could possibly be the operating system you guys are using?

patches 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 Holy фекал, Windows 8 compatibility mode fixed it. I was on the verge of giving up. Do you happen to have an explanation of why this worked so I can report to a couple different forums I was asking this question in? Also, thanks again.
Shiamorah 20 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 (edited) Glad to hear it's working!!! In case it isn't... Also try this if that doesn't work: 1. Bring up a command prompt with admin permissions (select Start button, type cmd in to search bar, then right click the Cmd program and select Run As Administrator) 2. Type in "netsh winsock reset" (without quotes) and press enter 3. Once the command has run, you should see the message "Winsock reset completed successfully" 4. Restart your machine and try running WoW again Edit: patches - This usually has to do with pathing differences in your BIOS. Without being too technical.... Windows 10 didn't exist when Vanilla WoW was created. Neither was Windows 8, but when speaking about compatibility, Windows 8 started serious focus on backward compatibility with older operating systems and games. Windows 10 has a lot of differences than any other Operating System. Edited January 4, 2017 by Shiamorah
Smashums/Beh 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 thanks a bunch :) so do i have to do this all the time now?
Shiamorah 20 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 It should automatically do it.. Unless you are doing some option like "run with compatibility.." Go to your properties and the compatibility tab, you can permanently set it there.
