PaladinPlayer 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2017 Hello everyone, I really need a noob-friendly guide for paladin. I have played vanilla briefly on kronos and i leveled to 60 (as a paladin) but i got burned out and stopped, before that, i was playing on retail since wotlk, so i dont know a lot about vanilla. Today I wanna start playing again on the new elysium server, so i'd need some help. Firstly, im planning to mainly pvp, ofc ill have to pve too since a lot of pve gear is better than pvp(?) (at least before rank14, like t2.5 or t2 even d2), I checked Theloras' Ret paladin guide and i dont know which playstyle to choose. Always ppl say that reckoning is probably the best but still I think that it isnt that useful because you cant always stuck reckbombs and u lose the vengeance talent(plz correct me, as i said im new to vanilla :D), so im considerin either shockadin or Deep ret. Also i cant decide if agi/str paladin is better than SP/int/str paladin, like should I go full d1,d2 sets or pick off w/e item has agi/str? Thanks in advance.
Talonari 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2017 Welcome to Elysium :). In regards to leveling It would depend which server you were looking at, for the pve server go the standard pve ret spec route. If you are planning on the pvp server though go with the leveling spec theloras suggest, more survivability and reck bomb in general are awesome things, however I leveled on a pvp server as deep ret and had no issues but it's up to you. For gear a lot of what you want can be found on the guides, however lightforge as a set isn't too bad for a good balance of stats and with everything working as it should here you will see improvements from the set bonuses etc. It won't cause you to have the best damage output compared to the full on dps gearing style but you will have more mana to play with allowing you to support your team more etc so it's down to how you like to play.
Kleft 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2017 For PvE you have to be deep ret if you want to DPS. Shockadin would be ok for Healing in PvE. For PvP playstyles you have to try what you like, i often see people gushing over reck PvP, but personally i really do not like the playstyle, and like to go deep Ret. Maybe you are like me, maybe you are like the others. Also I think for PvP and PvE you might want different sets, a set with good stamina and int as well as damage stats is good for PvP (when deep ret) but not very good for PvE, which is something to consider. Im not convinced by shockadin for dmg in PvP, the cooldown on holy shock is pretty long and without good gear to stack a bunch of фекал all at once your targets not gonna die to your nuke i dont think.
JCarrill0 17 Report post Posted January 21, 2017 The leveling process is not something that will last for long, play with the specs, and talents along the way. Plan in advance for the final spec you wish to play, but be sure you know the dedication you plan to put into that before making a final decision. Paladins are great healers, and when it comes to the other 2 specs, a enormous amount of time/dedication will be needed if you wish to make them viable for both pvp, as well as PvE. Best of Luck!
