Asephine 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2017 Hello, I logged in today to find that my gold has been removed. My account was not compromised. I still have all of my gear and all of my inventory. I still had silver and copper, just my gold was missing. I have been auction housing everything I could to get where I was (which was only 21 gold) and it is gone. PoohBerr 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2017 I'm actually interested in finding out if this is a bug or hackers only stealing money and leaving the rest of your account alone, mostly because I was helping my friend get his mount (he had around 24g) and he logged in one day to fine he had zero money but everything else intact just like OP. Well, suffice to say, I have been playing WoW for 12 years now, both on Blizzard retail servers as well as four or five different private servers and I have never, ever been hacked. That's simply not true! I too have never been hacked in retail for 12 years. Mind you i never used autheticator and only merged with battlenet when it became mandatory. I know how to create secure passwords and how to kep my pc clean! Now i found my account this morning completely emptied out, and i suspect this is just the beginning of a major invasion resulting in discovery of a major breach in elysium security. todoubled 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2017 This happened to me as well. I logged in this morning and I only had 99 copper on my character. The last time I played was Sunday morning, and I had just over 2 gold. There was nothing else missing from my bags or bank, so I do not believe I was hacked. Yeah i'm not one to start conspiracy theories, i live by the motto "if you can't show it, you can't know it" But i too have noticed the surge in "lost gold/hacked account" he recent days. So there was nothing to steal/sold from other servers (blizz, kronos, etc) as I didn't have an account. Also, my password are consistently 2 upper, 2 lower, 2 special, 2 numbers, and at least 12 characters in length. This is a habit I've formed after having a top secret clearence in the military and now currently being a tier 3 VoIP engineer for a large corporation. saigon 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2017 I just logged on directly after the servers opened up again after being online as the crash happened. I Bought skills and went into Deeprun tram and the server crashed. The server came back and i was still stood in the same place waiting for the tram but this time with 15+ gold missing. I have never used this password before AND my account has IP lock 2 factor auth enabled. I ran SuperAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes and Bitdefender and came back with nothing other than adware. I didn't exclusively said it was a hack (and no my friend doesn't buy gold or power leveling), and more importantly I'm just curious about what might actually be happening. When someone posts the exact same thing that my friend described I feel like this missing gold phenomenon is more than just something random. He's submitted a post on the private forum to the admins, and I mostly just want to see if an answer could be found. I'd rather know if it is some dumb bug or something else so it can either be fixed and/or addressed. I'd like to save up money for my epic mount knowing that one day a coding error won't erase my money with no chance at getting it back (or whatever the problem may be). 0 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Grig 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2017 Had most of my gold disappear as well. I’m mid 30’s and only had ~10g but now I’m down to ~70s. All of my gear was intact. saigon 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2017 Spoke to a GM, He couldn't or wouldn't tell me if any IP other than mine accessed the account he also added that he would check into a couple of things with my account and get back to me if he were to find anything interesting. I had a friend tell me that my character was never online during those times and I tested the 2 factor IP lock myself and it worked fine. So to add, when I did log in, it had told me that it had been the same number of hours I had been offline. I work as a senior network engineer, my password is not simple, and I dont do stupid crap like buy gold. If I am too cheap to pay $15 a month for wow, why in the hell would I pay for gold on a free server? I had played original wow from Beta to Panda before I quit. I know my PC is clean. No I think this is more an issue with the server than it is with the account being compromised. Everything I skin and mine I sell. Every green or above that is BOE, I sell. I buy nothing but training and water ...
