"Disconnected from server"

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've followed the instructions to create a new account and after renaming the file .wtf  at the login screen yesterday (I know the servers are down right now) I still got "Disconnected from server" immediately. I also tried the suggestions to solve this issue in other topics but nothing.

So can I fix it or I should give up?

Don't give up! The servers aren't down right now. Can you confirm that you created a new account on the main page, and not the forum? Some users can mix that up. And you are sure that the realmlist.wtf file was saved correctly, with "set realmlist logon.elysium-project.org"?

You weren't able to create a game account, were you?  The main site has been down continuously for a couple days now...unless you had created it at some time earlier.

Yeah I used two different names to not confuse the forum user from game one and I renamed it. I also moved the files away from "program files" folder as it was suggested in a similar topic and tried to re-downloaded the all thing

@Ellipsea I made the game account three days ago

Okay. Do you perhaps use Windows 10? Also, just to be safe, you can download this realmlist.wtf and replace it with yours: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3zLTUSkgCzXWUQzSi12enBWSjA

Do you have a detachable device for your WiFi? Unless you are directly connected to the Internet..

Yes I have Win10 and I'm using the "main" pc connected to the router

Oh ok.  there was some werid data being sent out to config.wtf file for a lot of people, when they first signed on that didn't allow them to connect.  If you use notepad to open up config.wtf in your WTF folder do you see a line that looks like this:

SET accountName "insertnamehere"

or doesnt have your account name in it?  find that line, put your account name in it and save it an close.

Okay, right click your WoW.exe (You are supposed to use this, and never Launcher.exe)

and go to properties. Go to Compatibility, and enable the option to run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 8. If that doesn't work, try some of the other options there. Let me know how that goes.

It'd probably be easier to just delete the config.wtf all together instead of going in and modifying it, since it is recreated automatically at the start of each launch.

Ya, I told some people to do that too, it just kept rewriting the bad data, and I didn't know it because I assumed it was still gone.  Went through like another hour of all the good stuff, before I realized they still kept downloading the bad data over and over.

I have it,

22 SET accountName "x"

does it literally have the #22 before it.  Also, go ahead and delete that, we don't want everyone to see your account name : )

I would assume that 22 was from a previous line, because SET should be the first word on each line.

I would highly suggest to try my fix first, I have experienced a lot of people using Windows 10 who have encountered the same issue, only to have it fixed by changing the compatibility settings. It's a good first step before getting into the more technical troubleshooting.

I downloaded the file from the drive and renamed it, try to log in and nothing. Then I changed the compatibility from WIN10 to WIN8 as you said, nothing again

It worked thank so much.

So: I downloaded the reallist.wtf from the drive, changed the compatibility to WIN8 and ran it as admin

I hope this topic will help anyone with the same problem
