Devilsaur vs Black Dragonscale

Recommended Posts

To me it seems the Black Dragonscale set is better than the Devilsaur one, just looking at the set here. There might be certain pieces you want to replace in the dragonscale set for better ones, and you might lose out on set bonuses.

My question is, which one is the one a hunter should go for? Which one is the easier one to farm for? Talking about the fresh Elysium PvP server. I'd bet the devilsaurs of un'goro will be camped and the prices will be high. I know nothing about the dragonkin dudes required for the dragonscale. Any opinions?

Uhmm.. Both?

3 parts Black Dragonscale (Boots, chest and shoulders) 2 parts Devilsaur seems to be by far the best idea with those two sets in mind.

As for easiest to farm for... I'd say Devilsaur. While they are heavily farmed so the competitions for the buggers are steep, you don't need an MC drops or enchanted leather for those, just regular drops. Nor do you need a few hundred of the Devilsaur you need 22 witch have a 100% drop iirc, while the 3 Black Dragonscale parts I suggested needs 135 dragonscales and have at best a drop of 20% when skinning trashmobs in UBRS, assuming you are the only Skinner you might get away with 10-20 per run and will have you dependent on finding groups for UBRS or BWL (Trash in Searing Gorge/Burning Stepes also drops them, but have a drop of a few %) and if you got the gear to run BWL, we can just drop the idea of this gear being needed for other then MC runs (the fire protection of black dragonscale comes in handy).

So, Devilsaur is likely easier.

Depends on the server for which is easier to farm.  On old nost, they were spawn camped.  At least with the scales, you can run a bunch of UBRS with your guild.  The boots aren't easy to come by due to the requirement for cores, but will be the piece that stays with you the longest as the FR from the boots alone is worth hanging on to.  I've vendored the other 3 pieces as t1/t2 provides sufficient FR for significant dps gains, but the boots are still part of my FR set.

But like perkalov said, using a combo of both sets will probably give you the best bang for your buck at least until Dire Maul is released.  At that point, you'll probably replace pieces of dragonscale while keeping the Devilsaur set.
