Fix the Spam Filter Please...

Recommended Posts

I've started to get tilted off the planet from the rule set that the new spam filter abides by. I get that you are trying to combat gold seller spam and I commend you guys for it, but how strict this spam filter is is affecting day to day gameplay by average players. I'm biased in this post because I'm going to name a few examples of when I am getting tagged for spam just performing daily activities...

Battlegrounds
In PUG battlegrounds when soloqueuing you have to occasionally make split second calls and type out incs for multiple locations within 5 seconds of each other, on top of informing others what to attack and where to stand etc (we've all done BGs, we all know how it is). However, I've been flagged for spam numerous times just saying (inc BS 5) and using "alt + up arrow > enter" to "spam" it a few times to ensure my team is aware. This isn't gold spamming, this isn't overly spamming BG chat, this is a few messages withing a few seconds to just make sure people have visibility while fighting other players, you name it. It's to ensure they see the messages.

Also, very split second calls (such as asking a hunter to scatter trap someone, or a mage to sheep someone) so you can get a ninja cap on a flag or node is better orchestrated when you spam it a few times rather than a casual "sheep plz".

Raiding
I occasionally have to do healing assignments for our raids and when I do that I used a multi-line macro that displays 6-7 messages in raid chat simultaneously. Here's how it would work before (fake timestamps included for clarification):

12:00:00 - /raid Healing Assignments ---------
12:00:00 - /raid  Tankdos/Zemets -- Taeyeon, Cer, Xethra
12:00:00 - /raid  Beadman-- Cer
12:00:00 - /raid  Stealth --  Adorabelle / Allero
12:00:00 - /raid  Vedic -- Ihealwarrior / Casius
12:00:00 - /raid  Fleetz -- Emancipator // Rest TOP OFF TANKS

How it works now:

12:00:00 - /raid Healing Assignments ---------
12:00:00 - /raid  Tankdos/Zemets -- Taeyeon, Cer, Xethra

*MUTED FOR SPAM*

This negatively impacts coordination for raiding because you don't always use voice comms for EVERY detail when raiding, you need to be able to coordinate via chat without being negatively impacted by this new spam filter.

Guild Chat

Lets face it, this spam filter shouldn't be affecting guild chat in any manner whatsoever. Guild chat is a place to interact with friends/guildmates in an uncensored place that is not affected by anyone else. If I want to spam guild chat to troll someone with "PATRIOTS WIN" 5 times, I should be able to do that in GUILD CHAT. It's affecting no one else other than the people I play and interact with on a daily basis.

I commend Elysium and its team and thank them for all their hard work they do in presenting us with a place to play the game we love to play. I also thank you for combating against gold sellers and trying to prevent the spam. But please don't do something that affects the daily activities of the players. I'm sure it was never intended, but it's happen.

V/R,

Xeth

I can only agree with this. It's pretty silly it's affecting guild, raid, battleground, and party chat.

Should be whispers and say only, imo.

Check out my thread in this forum section. I think the best way to fight goldspam is through community effort. This means creating a system where volunteers are in direct contact with a GM who is able to ban these accounts or mute them indefinitely. This way we can take care of gold spammers within minutes instead of hours/days through the ticket system.
