35X Better Performance for Intel Integrated GFX

Recommended Posts

This morning I put WoW on my laptop with integrated Intel graphics. I expected teh suck, but I was greeted with 5FPS even at lowest settings. After a little tinkering I got that up to 175FPS with this quick change.

  1. Create a shortcut to WoW
  2. Right-click the shortcut and go to "properties"
  3. In the "target" field add "-console" to the very end
  4. Open WoW with this shortcut
  5. Login
  6. Use the tilde '~' key to open the developer console
  7. Use the command "gfxApi Direct3D"
  8. Exit the game and restart as normal

After this change I was able to increase all options to max and still maintain 60FPS with vsync enabled.
