Disconnected from DDOS, gold and items missing

Got disconnected with DDOS attack (I think) about an hour ago, and when i was able to reconnect, characters missing random bag items and almost all gold (one character had about 40g, down to 1g 16s, the other had about 10g and down to that same odd amount.  Oddly, when I was able to reconnect after the DDOS, my characters were exactly where they were when I was disconnected (fishing), so it doesnt feel like the account was hijacked, but rather a burp in memory somehow. 

Any way this can be remedied?  Its not a ton of gold, but it sustains my leveling and training at the moment, and tough to recover.

Read server rules. they will not restore anything. Also change your password and set 2FA or you might lose everything.

Was curious if the result I experienced was one-off, or others got picked off as well.  Got the rules as I read deeper into forums, shame that it appears to be a risk of play.
