Account Hacked

My account has been hacked some time between last night and now.  I logged in to find my level 60 warrior on Anathema completely naked with all items in bag sold (and one of my bags even sold) and no gold left on the account.  I also had a bank alt on Elysium that had 170g removed. 

Can a GM get in contact with me regarding this issue?

Account security

 

The account owner is responsible for the security of the account and that it's sufficiently protected. Note that Elysium staff does not recover hacked accounts. You should:

 

Never share your account information;

Have a unique and complicated password that does not exceed 16 characters;

Connect yourself from a secure computer and network;

Never download unsafe files that might contain viruses/malware;

Never use the same credentials (username and password) on another server or service.

 

 

Also, did you have 2FA?

Wow - so literally months of my play time has been completely wiped by some scum bag and you guys are completely unwilling to assist?  A simple 24 rollback of my character would fix the problem.  I'm sure there's got to be a way to see where all of the gold was moved to, and that a brand new IP that's never logged into the accont mysteriously shows up in the logs.

No wonder you guys are experiencing population decline at such an alarming rate if this is your stance towards honest players on your servers.

I just logged in a few minutes ago into my account as well and all of my gold was hacked. I went from having around 85 gold combined on my two characters to having less than 20 silver when i logged in.

I agree with Sniggz, What the actual fuck. We literally just had hours, weeks, (in the case of sniggz, months) of our lives literally just robbed from us and you're best answer is "should have used 2FA". How am I as a noob suppose to know how unsecure this shit is. It's incredibly infuriating that your only answer is you aren't going to do anything and that this is just our faults.

I totally agree dude.  I honestly have no idea what 2FA even is.  Such bull shit.

Is that it? No additional responses from anyone on the support team? Your broken website won't even let me change my password, when i open the reset email it just takes me back to the "send me the reset password email" page.

Yeah, lol, they would probably go through the hassle of hacking accounts with just a couple of 100 gold. If the staff is corrupt they would just add gold directly to their accounts in the database. Moron.

Go to the web site and log out before clicking the pwd reset link

He is correct, also when you are there enable 2FA. Its right there in the control panel.

I was able to reset my pass, working on getting 2fa, not sure what the point is if I have to literally start all over. Everyday farming and grinding the AH only to have your gold savings vanish literally overnight and then have noone in the community, including community leaders give a shit. Very disheartening.

Its not that we dont care, we do. We also play WOW and know how much people pour into their characters.

We dont want the players to suffer the aftermath of some jerkface hack who just ruins peoples fun. That is the EXACT reason we provide the extra security.

Part of the reason accounts are not restored is that it is way to easy to abuse. I can ''hack'' my account by logging in Via VPN and then claim it wasnt me. Logs would back that up and show the new IP I logged in from.

Is there no way to see where the gold was mailed to or checking any logs on your guys' end so you can at least try and reclaim the gold and ban whatever shell accounts the hackers are using? at least try and find the hacker's network and ban them? I'm not cheating or abusing the system, i just want the fruits of my hours of labor, thats literally hours of my life I will NEVER have back.

@ariatris my highest charector is lvl 27, i've literally just been playing for a month, last time I played wow was more than 10 years. How am I, as a noob, suppose to know i could get hacked by just regularly playing? I know from years of gaming to make sure to follow a checklist similar to this

Should I have used 2fa? In hindsight of course I now acknowledge that I should have, but how am I as a noob suppose to know how truly unsafe these servers are when everything else I have done is secure.

You can change it to ask for a PIN every single login no matter what
