Here is an Idea - Allow PMultiboxing on ZK

Recommended Posts

so ZK is on the way out, or so it seems.  Here is my idea for a last ditch "save".  Allow Multiboxing for PVE, not for PVP.  So many people have theories on how Multiboxing ruins everything - we can put it to the test, and possibly attract people to make accounts on ZK since it would be the only realm to allow PVE multiboxing.

Inb4 "Die Cheater!"

Why Multibox?  Here is how I got into it and why I think it adds an entire new dimension to WoW.

I joined Feenix's blizz-like Emerald Dream (RIP) that allowed PVE Multiboxing - I had 2 hours a nite to play, and I spent a week wasting my time trying to run Dead Mines with PUGS that would fall apart half way through, hence wasting my time and precious play time.  Rather than rage-quit I gave multiboxing a try (aka, I had no 60's)

1. I died a lot.  Try running Dead Mines  with 5 lev16's who are on auto-follow, have the most horrible response time, and how the fights go are about only as good as the macro's you sat there and tried to figure out.  There was a lot of tweaking macro's, playing with positioning, playing with different classes, etc.  Even though I easily died over and over, it didn't feel like I was wasting my time like on PUGS that fall apart after the first wipe.

2.  It got worse as the Instance levels got higher - I spent weeks figuring how to beat a few bosses that did AOE silences/stuns.  Needless to say I got really freaking good with macro's, because the situation forced me to get good and think outside the box at solutions.  I really didn't need to develop crazy macro's until I was in a NAXX raiding guild on a different realm.  The problem solving challenges one faces while multiboxing are massive and multifaceted, but once you figure it out the rewards are great.

3. I still quested and ran instances with guildies - of course I made sure all my toons all stayed close to each others levels.  I probably spent close to a year multiboxing and still didn't hit 60 on any tooms - I was high 50's on all my toons when Feenix killed ED.  I didn't log many hours, but it was all split amongst 6 toons, and countless hours of wiping in instances kept me low.

Basically I had a really fun time learning to multibox and I wish people knew more about the challenges it offers, people are quick to just yell it down because of whatever reasoning they have.  Anyway, just my idea I had for ZK - obviously, for technical reasons, it probably isn't a good fit for high pop servers.

Im all for this. Unfortunately the WoW community views it as "cheating" , even the topnotch pvpers like the forum posters etc who dont know how to deal with a multiboxer so they will go on forums and complain. This is why /follow command got removed in bgs, altrough its still possible to actually follow through over means

so its ok to group up a r14 weapons premade against another faction or a full twink premade against levelers but its no ok to multibox.

the final part is multiboxing WAS A PART OF VANILLA EXPERIENCE just like ninja looting, ganking, AH sniping etcetera. Anyone here played against the multiboxer Prepared on KJ back in vanilla..? I can safely say these wotlk nerds did not

But fine let the nerds cry. Dont allow multiboxing for pvp servers , but im not sure why its not allowed in a PvE server. Watch some f@ggot give bull$hit that it "destroys economy etc or not enough mobs" when the server is dead and the economy is next to nonexistant. Their argument would  be invalid and they would need to piss off

No thank you!! It does nothing but give an "illusion" of population increase, while not actually increasing the population. I understand retail and other private servers allowed multiboxing, but we do not and as far as I know, we aim to keep it that way. The number of negative consequences from multiboxing far outweigh the benefits.

I was going to keep this thread open to allow and encourage discussion, but on second thought I won't. We will be allowing transfers to other servers from zethkur, so allowing this would basically be a workaround to not being able to multibox on Elysium or anathema. If we weren't going to allow transfers, then sure this is something that could be considered. Zethkur might be closing, but the character data will not cease to exist. Thanks for giving suggestions you believe will improve our servers, but this specifically just would hurt much more than it'd help.
