Can't use the chat

Hello,

i currently can't use the chat. i can not say, whisper group, simply nothing. I think i got muted after spamming 5 "Hello?" in a row to see if the chat is working at all and if other players can see my messages. instead i got muted for a minute. After the minute and while playing a different character i noticed i cant use the chat at all anymore.

This is blocking me from leveling, dungeons, anything. Help please.

Sounds like a chat ban. You could restart wow and see if that helps. If not then wait about an hour.

Hey my brother is having a similar problem but not exact, he can't see any sort of chat besides /say and only then can he see the chat bubbles. So when he talks in party to me I can see it but he can't when I say something back in party it doesn't display for him this happens with all forms of chat. Since this has happened he has stopped playing due to have virtually no way of communicating with people. Also I received a chat ban for clearing my feed of multiple guild recruit and gold seller spams, but I said nothing offensive and said nothing more or less than the actual spammers, rarely do I ever talk as it is. Any help is appreciated, if no help can be given then please just reply letting me know there is nothing you can do.

Same here. I know there is a chat block for new players but my char is way above that. Seems like the biggest part of the Community on the server just dont want to answer new player / simple  questions in chat. I dont know if i really want to stay on such a server...

Have you made sure that you have those channels enabled in your chat window?

Yes he even went as far as reloading and going back to default UI as well as resetting his chat windows. I will double check with him if he has all the channels he wants to be in enabled, I believe he said he did do that at one point though. Thank you for the response and as far as my chat ban it was temporary and is now lifted but I am still confused as to why it ever happened.
