mage or lock

hello i am new to this server i am planning to roll either a mage or a lock but i can't decide which. at 60 they both seem spam bolt style with nothing extra but overall is there any hidden thing to do in raids or in general that i don't see or is a class more wanted from guilds/raids than the other? i am also going to roll horde but i ain't 100% sure yet, any advice on which faction? tyvm for your time

they both fun for me but while levelling i think is better to try warlock you can easy kill and level fast then mage send you void to tank and use your spell :p but i'm not saying mage is bad its great to :p   if you locking for other classes there is rogue  so fun  hunter same as warlock :p  but dont listen to me :p i'm just talking :p  for i can say to you choose what you like the most ^^ i'm sure you will be good on that choice  :p have fun :p

They both spam bolts in raids, mages get to buff and warlocks get to add a curse... other than that it's bolt-spam-fest! If you intend to do pvp, mages have a little better survivability than locks(imo, but then again I'm a glass cannon) and have a little better burst. Locks have a few tricks though, pets help alot. And dots can be thrown around alot. Just don't fuck with targets cc'd (that goes for every damn aoe class and hunters the most).

 

It all comes down to if you wanna thrown ice around or dabble in shadow magic. I lost my soul to the latter.

As for horde, guilds usually bring one more mage too raids in the current content, but that's not set in stone. Casters in general are definitely wanted on hordeside, so both are fine in that regard.

As for mechanics, both primarily spam bolts, mages have to occasionally counterspell or sheep while warlocks have to curse and banish.
