2 factor verification not working

I've followed the instructions, but i'm still getting "This value is not valid" .... 

currently locked out of account because I've screwed this up

Are you using the Google Authenticator? If so, try opening the options menu (three dots at the top right) -> select Settings -> then Time Correction for codes -> Sync now.

See if that corrects your issue.

I have the same issue. I'm using Authenticator+ and automatic time correction is on by default. I still always get the error message "the secret key you provided could not be validated".

I have a Windows Phone and the authenticator that is suggested can't be downloaded, so I had to download another one.
