How much +hit % should I aim for?

Recommended Posts

So I'm playing on Darrowshire and we get the Zul'Gurub patch this Wednesday. With this patch comes access to many +hit % gear pieces, like the Bloodvine set. How much +hit% should I aim for? Is there a cap? At the moment my only +hit % gear is Bracers of Arcane Accuracy from BWL. I'm tailor so I will be going for the Bloodvine set.

Thanks!

Tailor or no tailor you'll be using Bloodvine until you get some BiS items in AQ40, though if ranged dps don't reroll tailor they are stupid.

That being said, to answer your question:

Aim for around 10%-11% spell hit and maximize your +Spell Power.

Your available +Spell Hit gear:

Head:

2% from Bloodvine Goggles (if engineering)

or

Use Spell Power here

Neck:

Use Spell Power here until 1.10

Cloak:

1% from Cloak of Consumption

Shoulders:

Use Spell Power here

Chest:

2% from Bloodvine Vest

Bracer:

1% from Bracers of Arcane Accuracy

Gloves:

1% from Bloodtinged Gloves

Belt:

Use SP here

Legs:

1% from Bloodvine Leggings

Boots:

1% from Bloodvine Boots

Rings:

1% from Band of Forced Concentration / Pair with a + Spell Power Ring

or

2% from Band of Forced Concentration / Pair with Zanzil's Seal

or

3% from Zanzil's Seal / Pair with Zanzil's Band  (if using Loot Council I recommend having the ring set Prio for Warlocks)

Trinkets:

2% from Nef Tear  (if using Loot Council I recommend moving Tear to Lock priority as mages now get 2% hit from ZG enchant +6% from talents)

Weapons:

1% from Jindo's Bang of Whammies (off hand). (if using Loot Council I recommend moving OH to Lock Priority to pair with Claw of Chromag or Mageblade, and let Mages have Staff of Shadowflame) - there is a good 2 hit 1 crit staff you'll be wanting when AQ40 drops, let the mages have their Ignite crit builds.

2% from Jindo's Judgement (Staff) (if using Loot Council I recommend moving Staff to Lock Priority)

This gives a list of +16% available +Spell Hit % (cap).   (if engineering + 14% if not).   Can use 3/8 T2 set bonus on helm / shoulders / and boots or belt (depending what else you got in those slots) to help you get a decent start.  ZG 2 piece is decent as well, but you already got bracers from BWL.   So I'd leave that alone for now (Shoulder Bracer).

As gear becomes more and more frequent and you have more options to choose from, you may find that you might want to have 2 DPS raid sets.  One that pushes your +hit up a bit more to say +13/14% on pure tank and spank bosses.    For Bosses that have adds, and or simply clearing trash mobs, you may want to have a set with +8-10 hit % and more +SP/Crit to do more damage in those cases.

The belt gets upgraded eventually to be comparable to a Mana Igniting Cord.

Can run belt / shoulders / helm for 3 set.   Since there will be a line for Mish'undare, and you already have bracer of accuracy.

Again, if your guild does Loot Council, if gear planing into AQ, mages would use Mish'undare and Mantle of the Blackwing while warlocks would be getting T2.5 shoulder and helm tokens before mages since the mage one doesn't have +hit, and a fire mage would want +2 crit (Mish) over 1 crit 1 hit (T2.5) on that slot.

Hell even if you are DKP guild, these are two items you can let others bid for and you hold fast for Nef Tear.

T2 belt is relatively weak right now on Darrowshire, guess it gets upgraded with AQ patch. But will try to go for T2 helm / shoulders / belt for set bonus and save my DKP for Nef trinket.

Thanks for your help guys, much appreciated.
