It crashed, eventually, but not until a significant chunk of data had been 'lost'. This is a flaw in MaNGOS that can affect any private server you play on. We've been working to solve it and we've been preparing an announcement on infrastructure changes that we're hoping will allow us to prevent this sort of incident.
