Is Farming Mobs needed by the opposing faction for longer than an hour against ToS?

I'm looking for some clarification on this conversation I had with a GM or at least someone who is claiming to be (GM tag not appearing in chat, but I think it's because I'm using WIM)

There's a couple ways this conversation could be interpreted and I'm curious as to what is the actual stance of Elysium.

1. The GM is being literal, I will get banned for killing mobs that the opposite faction need for a quest if I farm them for longer than an hour. I thought only killing Quest givers for an extended period of time is against the rules. If killing any mob that is a part of a quest is against ToS wouldn't farming the Fire Elementals in Stonetalon for example be against ToS because Horde players need them to complete this quest: http://db.vanillagaming.org/?quest=6393? The ToS specifically states "important quest NPCs" does this mean an important quest (the quest specific to this spot literally only rewards XP) or any NPC that is required in the completion of a quest, including mobs?

2. The GM is requesting that I move farming spots / cut down on the time I spend at this farming spot because they're getting tickets that opposing faction players can't complete the quest while I'm farming (in reality they can, there is a PvP solution). My compliance is optional.

3. This is someone impersonating a GM.

If the situation is specific to the spot I was farming at why is that so? Preferably without disclosing the actual spot as I quite like farming there as it's not popular.

I should probably mention I wasn't farming these mobs specifically because they're needed by the opposing faction for a quest, I was farming them to make money.

1. The GM never threatened you with a ban or other sanction. maybe the words could have been chosen better. Introducing the idea of banning is yours and without foundation.

2. You were being asked to give some others a chance to quest. Sure they could turn it into a PvP -fest. That's always a solution.

3. No, I iz a reel GM wit a ban hammer and stuff. Honest.

Basically, there is sometimes a conflict between the letter of the law, which you seem to have concentrated on with some unfounded extrapolations , and a simple request to allow some others to  get their quests done. The times were somewhat arbitrary, the words may have not been the best choice.

Basically you can farm all you like. You need have no regard whatsoever as to making others questing a problem.

Thanks a ton for clearing this up, when contacted by a gm I just assumed I was in some sort of trouble.

GMs are not only trouble, they are helpers. Also, and this is where people can get upset, they should try, as lightly as possible, to ease the flow. Again, the request could have/should have been better worded. Mea culpa as the Romans used to say.
