Arthoras 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2017 Since the recent Q&A confirmed that two realms will be launched simultaneously i thought it might be a good idea to think about intelligently distributing the player base on both realms. It's quite evident that the Chinese community plays in seclusion from anyone else. They stick mostly to their own guilds, group with other Chinese for dungeons and even have their own separate world chat. I'm not trying to hate on them but it's a fact that there's two different communities that hardly interact with each other at all. That's a problem for two reasons: a) The large number of online players means little since a huge chunk of them are "unavailable for interaction" other than maybe for world PvP or BGs. b) Realms can hold only a limited number of players before becoming unstable (see Elysium). Considering this, I thought it would be a good idea to split people based on that rather than letting them choose a realm randomly.

What were you assuming? Different realms for different time zones?

You can do that, yes, but is the demand so high for PvE servers? It's only a small portion of the people that prefer a PvE server over PvP, it will just end up with two servers with a highly unsymmetric population. The result should be obvious, one highly populated PvP server with the same unbearable lag issues as Elysium and one measly populated PvE server that will slowly die over time like the two Nost servers. Whereas dividing the realms based on community would have a greater benefit as I already explained in the OP.
