I'm fairly certain that modifying your game files can get you banned.... well at least that was the rule before the big 'event' happened here a few weeks back, but I don't see why that would've changed.

And? I  used bot on retail for the 1 year and still not banned.

No one stopping your friend from using mod, BUT if anti-cheat system ban him, this ban is going to be final without the right to appeal. If you cant play without OMGGRAFIXXX - thats your problem.
