Y2LGOLD problem.

Ok! I`m playing on this server for some time now. Since i`m playing i`m constantly getting spammed from gold sellers. At first i was ignorant and amused. But after i saw the annoucements about banning account due to buying gold i`ve started to be annoyed. Annoyed , by what ? You might ask. Well, you clearly are against gold selling and buying hence you ban accounts who actually use those third party websites. In 1 hour of playing i receive aproximatelly 6-7 whispers from, if not the same, different lvl 10 characters with the same message "WWW.Y2LGOLD.COM>>>100g=8$/fast to 60lvl.....etc" . And this is only me, there are alot of people getting spammed and maybe , if not for sure, are reporting them. I haven`t reported any of the names till now because i find it to be redundant . Instead i have made a ticket in-game asking why aren't taken serious measures about this problem. This is the conversation i`ve had with one of the GM's :

<GM>[Snogumz] whispers: Greetings, did you report anyone that was able to report back? 

To <GM>[Snogumz]: Hello!

To <GM>[Snogumz]: Report back to whom? Anyway , i`m receiving daily , in a hour, about 5-6 whispers from different lvl 10 characters with same announcement about the gold selling website.

To <GM>[Snogumz]: And i know for sure your staff don`t encourage gold selling or buying, hence the recent bans.

To <GM>[Snogumz]: And to answer properly your question : No, i have not reported any of the names that are spamming.

<GM>[Snogumz] whispers: Well, you can simply make a ticket to report them.

To <GM>[Snogumz]: But i bet i`m not the only one getting them, even you if you make a normal character and wait 15 mins will get a message *from them* for sure.

<GM>[Snogumz] whispers: You bet and i bet and we all bet.

<GM>[Snogumz] whispers: Everyone reports. You can report in order for us to take action or download an addon called spam throttle or something like that

To <GM>[Snogumz]: Ah, i see. I`m talking about a serious problem and i`m not beeing taken seriously.

To <GM>[Snogumz]: Ok, now you`ve made it personal

To <GM>[Snogumz]: I WILL report every time and every name of the one who is spamming me

To <GM>[Snogumz]: Just to say to you this: Ok, i`ve reported, what now? I`m still getting spammed!

2 secs later , the spammer (Character name Laniasd ) whispers me again after he already whispered me 3 times the moment i`ve made the ticket.

I have screenshots if necesary but i don`t think it will be. My question is : Are gold farmers allowed to spam people in-game ? If not , why are not banned? It`s easy to ban their IP or class of IP since they are probably doing the spam from China (The website is registered there). Am i wrong and juvenile because i write about this stuff and because i take it seriously ? I think not, since there are real money involved. Money that some people are willing to pay the gold farmers and to be banned by other people who are *probably* letting the gold farmers do their job for interest.

1)Standard goldsell spam? No, they ban for that.

2)Because they need to check everything before taking any action, and "2 secs later" is clearly not enough. Also, I dont think anyone ever monitor whispers.

3)china "players" uses vpn to access server and can just hop on another one. 

If you want a fast and efficient solution - just use Spamthrottle addon. Complaining and waiting wont really do much. Yes, you can report every bot and spammer, but it takes time to check&ban and spammers can create new bots almost every second on full auto mode.

The GM ticket queue is always filled with reports and we take action against all of those accounts and take additional measures to try and ban and hinder those accounts. There comes a point where actions to prevent gold spam negatively impacts the experience for the rest of the community (such as unable to speak below level 10). It's a computerized game of cat an mouse where we implement something to stop them -> they create a way around it -> repeat.

Ahhh this is the same GM who accused me of trolling and threatened me with a ban for trolling him when the server's spam filter kept muting people (including myself) over and over again for no reason. Wouldn't have expected much help from him :)

Spamthrottle doesn't stop the new way they just whipser HI or hello or random words trying to get you to message back getting a DND message to go buy gold.

 

ALl that's missing are dead bodys spelling out words and it be WORST then back in the day.

Lol I remember that, way to much effort into getting me to buy gold.
