Persistent Disconnection Issues

Recommended Posts

I am logging on from the US and have persistent connection issues.

First, every time (or almost every time) that I login for the first time each day, I am disconnected after waiting at the loading screen for my selected WoW character. I login to the server quickly. I select my character, and press "Enter World". Often, I am disconnected after the loading bar fills on the loading screen. Sometimes, I will see the world start to load, but am abruptly disconnected. Usually, I can login again and then I am able to enter the world with my character.

Second, especially during the peak hours of activity on the server, I am disconnected even when I am trying to switch characters. Often, I am unable to enter the world with any character and give up. Then I just wait to play another time.

Third, I am almost certain I am lagging. The Ping Bar will show that I have a ping of 90-250ms. However, I can see a noticeable delay between my commands and the actions of my character. There will also be "choppy" movements and erratic controls. It seems that a true ping of 90-250ms should not cause this type of disruption

These problems have so far only been mildly inconvenient. However, I could see them causing big problems if I were in a dungeon or needed to meet a group of friends at a certain time. Are there any suggestions for correcting these issues? Are these known issues? Does it have anything to do with my location?

Thanks for the help!

Issue# 1: I would save your addons and re-download/reinstall everything. This sounds like corruption and I am finding that when people re-install these issues go away. Maybe before trying that option go with disabling all addons first and make sure one of them isn't causing issues.

Issue#2: Same as above - this shouldn't happen and sounds like something software wise is messing up.

Issue#3: The server is physically located in Europe, so that is the cause of your MS. The longer distance also adds to the amount of stutter you may be seeing and spikes in lag.

One thing you can try is a paid VPN with multiple server locations and see if you can find one that works better for you. Other then that I don't think theres anything you or anything we can do on our end to help that.
