Changing the maximum number of sound channels

I wanted to ask the staff if we are allowed to change the maximum number of sound channels as shown in this post http://forums.crestfall-gaming.com/index.php?/topic/774-vanilla-sound-12-into-64-channels/

It's a feature that was apparently added in Burning Crusade in the options but can not be changed in vanilla except by editing files. It would fix some of the annoying sound problems that happen in raids IE not hearing your own spells go off.

Modifying game files beyond in game menu options and addons is not advisable and a good way to set off the anti cheat.
