Enhancement totem support build

Recommended Posts

Gotten some questions lately on how I play enha shammy in raids, so made a little guide. 😀 Feel free to ask and correct stuff. This is not a DPS guide, its a support build, The dps boost you give your group + your own dps is way above any other single dps.

Dahls’ Enha support guide

So, your life is meaningless without windfury procs, but you still want to be useful in raids?

Talents: https://classicdb.ch/?talent#hZxi0dVMutV0ez (Last 5 points can go anywhere, put them according to your playstyle)

Talents summary: Totems mana cost reduction by 25%, Totems 30yd (+10), Hit +3%, Stoneskin Toten +20%, Cooldown grounding totem -2sec, Strength of earth totem +15%, Grace of air totem +15%, AP bonus of WF totem +30%, Flurry for 30% wweapon speed. This build only realy needs  0/22/14 with 15 points to spare.

This build focuses on improved totems and melee uptime. I use Nightfall for full raid support. It is NOT needed for this build, but is a good bonus. This axe is expensive, and I went a good time without it while still getting cheers from melee and ranged dps. All you need to do is keep the right totems up for any situation, auto attack and totem twisting.
DPS group: Buffing your group with WF, Str, mana regen, poison/diseace removal and resistance totems so they top those meters by generating more rage and energy! (Remember to offheal that one rogue).
Tank groups: Helping tanks maintain more threat on untauntable bosses, defence against giant packs of small mobs with defenceive and resistance and grounding totem spam on div bosses.

What is totem twisting?

Cast WF totem (9 sec buff)
Cast Agi totem (WF buff on 8 sec now)
After 8 sec repeat.

Now your melee group have 100% uptime on WF, 90% uptime on Agi totem and you got 7 sec to cast str totems, shocks (If good on mana) and stormstrike etc.

My rotation usually: WF totem > Agi totem > Str totem > STORMSTRIKE!*> Frost shock > Searing totem > Mana spring totem > (WF totem > Agi totem > Frost shock > STORMSTRIKE!* > Frost shock) <- Repeat until boss is dead, I stop using Frost shock if I go under 25% mana.

Totem twist and use abilities on cooldown, have a rank 1 earth shock ready for interrupts and witch your mana. Prio 1 is totem twisting.
(* depends, takes up a debuf slot. Good opener)

Good to have Gear:

Anything with +hit. Hit > Anything else.
Hand of justice: https://classicdb.ch/?item=11815 More WF (and nightfall) procs.
Nightfall: https://classicdb.ch/?item=19169 For full raid support! Expensive tho.
After getting hit capped, go for Crit/agi, Str/AP, Int and MP5. As enha you don't need any tiers, go for Mail/leather drops outside the Tiers.(edited)

Consumables for Raids:

10x Elixir of the Mongoose (Or the cheaper 10x Elixir of Greater Agility)
15x JuJu Power                  (Or 10x Elixir of Giants)
20x JuJu Might                  (Or 20x Winterspring Firewater)
1x Spirit of Zanza               (ZG Revered, buy one, use it, buy another to bring)
1x Flask of the Titans         (Not needed, but ,makes it easier for healers)
20x Smoked Desert Dumplings (Or the cheaper 20x Tender Wolf Steak)

20x Runecloth Bandage (Emergency OOM and potion-on-cooldown healing)
10x Major Healing Potion
10x Major Mana Potion

5x Greater Fire Protection Potion          (MC, Onyxia and some BWL)
5x Greater Shadow Protection Potion   (BWL)
5x Restorative Potion                          (MC and BWL)

Not all these are needed for every raid, but I always bring Elixir of Mongoose, Giants and firewater. Consumables are needed to fill some of the gap enha lacks in dmg, enha aint a top tier raider to begin with, but be dedicated by bringing consumables.

Enchants (These are focused around Nightfall)

Shoulders:   Zandalar Signet of Might (+30 ap) ZG Exalted.

‘ey man, thanks for the guide!

Would you recommend throwing Earth Shock nstead of Frost Shock to take advantage of the dmg butf from Stormstrike, assuming the Tank has good threat?

For bursting dps I would go full ham on ES if I were good on threat, tho one Windfury triple crit could put you high up there, so watch out! 😄

I usually go for rank 1 ES for interrupts and Frost Shock max rank for dmg. 1st prio on bosses would be Totem Twisting and Auto attack if you got nightfall.

Right now I've respecced for the instant nature spell, saved my behind and party members many times.
Stormstrike is good to have for solo, pvp, dungeons and raid mobs, where debuff slots is not a problem.  When I played with it I would just not use Storm Strike on bosses.

Then again, I am testing the ele/enha build (8% hit from gear needed) with focus on totem twisting. Rank 1 ES spam -> crit = free cast (Max rank ES/FS) and 9% melee crit! + spell critts do doubble crit dmg. I jumped up the dps boards. You have 10ft less range on totems, and they hae no mana cost reduction. (Mana pots needed).

I play a Tankadin, so I am no stranger to the need for mana consumables. What does your gear look like with the 21/30/0 spec? Do you do enough DPS and provide enough utility to justify your raid spot?

21/30/0 requieres both melee and spell dmg gear, Mostly from AQ40 (Tier 2.5). Dont have that yet, so specced back till I get there.

So far people want this build in the raid, so getting a spot have never been a problem. 🙂

Yeah, back on Nost, prot warrs loved me, because me being there meant they could throw on their DPS gear and change it up, a bit. Nowadays, it seems like all I do in raids is OT adds and heal with a prot spec.
