Twinking (creating chars of 19, 29, 39, 49 levels for battlegrounds and WPVP) has several advantages which are not as obvious as others:
You can make a twink all by yourself, there's no need to raid with 39 more people.
No pressure - you're not chasing high-rank rewards anyway.
You learn to use your core abilities to the max, since many others are unavailable at low levels.
Twinks can be made in a couple of weeks - probably less than it'll take to make it to level 60 and definitely less than it'd take to gear it.
If you'd like to approach the game a bit more relaxedly, twinking is a good way to do so. If you are like the idea of making twink, I advise you to choose Valkyrie realm.
There is a ".stopxp" feature, which allows you to stop at 19 and get best experience from world pvp in Redridge or Stonetalon mountains.
Valkyrie is old server. There are many enchanters with rare recipes.
AH prices on valkyrie are LOW. People sell things with minimal margin.
Twinking community is large enough. You will find some competition.
It's said that to get a good twink you'll need a high-level char and loads of time. It is true, somewhat - level 60 can farm gold and carry your twink through instances (WC. DM, SFK, BFD) much faster than you'd be going on your own. The best items are quite rare and thus won't appear in the auction house much. Of course, making a high-level char just for twinking is kind of redundant, besides, some can't spend this much time on twinking. Gearing up twinks can be made a lot easier. There are lots of items which can do well in 10-19 bracket. Most items can be replaced with boss loot, but you can compare it ingame yourself - all of gearing decisions are yours. Some gear for health, some - for damage. It's widely considered that 1k health is a good breakpoint for 19 twinks, lower than that, and you're probably lacking something. If you've got something to say on the topic, please do so below. Useful Crafted Items Both BIS items and temporary substitutes below. Twinks should level only engineering. Items made by other tradeskills can be bought from other players.
Quest Rewards Both BIS and temporary substitutes. Some quests will be completed while levelling, but the best rewards are from "red" quests (+5 levels and more). You're guaranteed to get the reward, so if you're paying someone to carry you through, you won't have to pay a second time. All of these can be easily completed by level 40 chars, so you can help them to get their 60% mounts :-) Remember that warriors and paladin can wear mail, leather, and cloth. Druids, rogues, hunters, shamans can wear both cloth and leather. You probably won't be able to gear a warrior only in mail armor. The only 2h for shamans on 19 is a staff, dual-wielding is only for rogues. Be careful when choosing quest rewards. Some quests can give a choice between several beneficial items.
