I queued for BGs casually in retail vanilla. Until the BC pre-patch, when raiding more or less died down, I was never in a pre-made group. And I very rarely saw pre-made groups. One difference between retail and here is that you've got a lot more players shooting for R14. When I was playing retail, it was considered far too heavy of a grind for most people to even consider. Why is this relevant? Because with the number of pre-mades, there's no room for casual PvP. Everyone is obsessed with maximizing honor/hour, which means that casual players are discouraged from queueing. This is a problem that feeds itself exponentially - the less casual PvPers, the less incentive there is for casual PvPers to queue. I don't bother at all except for AV on AV weekend, and that's only because I've reached the point where I need to have a Don Julio's for TPS. And for those of you who want to rank, less people PvPing means longer queue times for you. So two suggestions: one, set queue maximums to 5-man groups and two, when you leave a BG, have it send you back to wherever you entered it from, instead of from the warmaster (or emissary) you queued from. This would do two things. By gimping pre-mades a bit, you increase incentive for casuals to queue and by porting people back to the place they were before they entered the BG, you allow people to do things other than just BG. If I could PvP while farming, I'd probably PvP more. I'm sure I can always find someone in IF to queue me for a BG while I'm out in Azshara hunting arcane crystals or farming DME on my mage. It'd be a nice break from the monotony.

I tried out all 4 realms and still dont know where to play.SpottedCow replied to Olaf the TANK's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions I think Darrowshire is just fine. We could use more horde, certainly, but that's not a reason to not roll horde there. There are still excellent horde raiding guilds and less competition for nodes and quest mobs in horde friendly areas. I actually just rolled a shaman there.

Actually, I did come to Elysium after Nostalrius shut down. But a large part of the draw was the expected population. I wasn't playing very seriously on Elysium until I could transfer my Nost toons over, at which point, it suddenly became worthwhile for me to invest more time. CF comes out, no way in hell I'm leveling a warrior 1-60 again. If Darrowshire dies, I'll go find a BC server and roll an enh shammy to relive my glory days. I want to experience all of AQ40 and Naxx, but I'm only willing to put so much time into that grind.

Is dps warrior valued in raids at the beginning?SpottedCow replied to Bagger's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions Here's where the special snowflake thing comes from. What you're saying is "I know that Retribution Paladins are a gimped spec. But I want to play one anyway. And I think it's silly that I'm looked down on for expecting 39 other people to have their raid gimped, to spend more time clearing raids and wipe more, so that I can play out my fantasy." You want to play Ret, play Ret. If you find a guild that will take you to raids as Ret, congratulations. Nobody here is going out of their way to keep you from raiding. But you can't force them to let you raid with them, any more than they can force you to not play Ret. And as offended as you're getting at them telling you not to play a failadin, that's how offended they are when you tell them that they should accept you wasting their time. I play a prot warrior. And I can throw on a set of dal'rends and some leather and dps. But that doesn't mean that I'm expecting a guild to take me as a dps warrior with 38 points in the protection tree. If I chose to do that and a guild chose to take me, that's on them, but it would be monumentally arrogant of me to expect them to do that as a matter of course. Much like you're being monumentally arrogant, Bagger.

I have this same problem, except I'm not on a laptop; I'm using a desktop and a smart TV, running Windows 10. I checked the refresh rate, system rate is 60 Hz same as the game. Did you ever find a solution to this problem? It's causing serious issues for me. As an FYI, a workaround for me seems to be running the game in windowed mode. I can click on other things just fine that way and can even alt-tab multiple times without it getting choppy.

As a warrior, I am always happy to help leveling warriors kill Cyclonian. Can't always help with the rest of the chain (farming is a high priority to stay in raid consumables), but I'm happy to help when I can. WW Axe is huge for warriors and lasts 15 levels. Glad everyone was good to you. :)

Since the new ToU calls forceflagging people on world bosses griefing, looks like we're going to see some horde getting banned tomorrow. Enjoy your vacation, boys.

Agreed. That BoE epic that you're equipping is something I could sell to buy a BoE epic that I can equip. Personally, for BoE blues and epics, I'm going to roll on them because I'm not going to pass up something that can help me afford to get my BiS so some random can get his. If it's friends/guildies, that's one thing. PuGs, I don't owe you shit.

If you get to the middle or so of the conversation, you'll hear Shenna talk about someone calling her on her personal cell phone about getting banned. I don't know the full reason for anyone leaving; it's probably a mix of bad PR and concern over doxxing, but the doxxing part is just unacceptable. The amount of malice behind the attacks on Elysium is mindboggling. If you think something shady is going on, quit playing. Or quit developing, as some have done. Maybe make a post to inform other people of your concerns. When you start threatening people or harassing them in their homes, you've crossed the line. That is 100% on the players, at least, those who are being vicious. When I was in the Navy, I would drive by signs and banners every day on the way to work from people who hated the military, hated having a base in their town (at least, prior to 9/11, after that, the banners disappeared). And that's fine. That's freedom of speech for you. But if I had had people coming to my home or fucking with me on my off hours, my response would've been a lot nastier than Shenna's was.

I saw (heard?) the leaked soundcloud conversation. I would like to send my deepest regrets that you're having to deal with people harassing you outside of the project about project things. I can't speak for anyone else, but I appreciate the work that you guys do on our behalf. Please know that I am just happy to have a lively and vibrant place to play Vanilla WoW. I've got nothing but love and respect for the Elysium team; I came here after Nost shut down and while I felt that the gameplay wasn't as good as Nost was (and has suffered slightly with the core change), I also know that a long-term, unpaid commitment to providing the best service you can to the community is a tough thing to do. I have nothing but respect for the commitment that you've made and I am sorry that you've had to suffer for your devotion. I'm glad that despite what the trolls have done and are doing to you that you are moving forward. There's no shame in backing out, I don't blame Asura or the Elysium devs who left. It's asking a lot to put up with the toxic elements of this community. But god, do I love those of you that are staying strong.

Some stats from the BWL LaunchSpottedCow replied to Paramour's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions I think that it's fantastic and says a lot about our community that there are 3 different guilds - representing both factions - with server first boss kills in BWL. We've got a lot of really high quality players here on Darrowshire, and I think that's something we can all take pride in. Meh. Horde side was harder for pretty much everything in Vanilla PvE. Pallies provide better buff coverage than shamans do (and in most cases, better buffs) and you only get Fear Ward as a Dorf, leaving Horde out in the cold. You get to be a lot lazier on Nef where you don't wipe when your tank misses a dance. You know there's competition at the top, but there's also camaraderie. And a week 1 full clear puts you at the top, brother.

Guys, love what you do. Truly. I played on Elysium before you got the Nost data and would've continued on to 60 had I not been able to go back to my old toons. And I'm not some starry-eyed fanboi who thinks that the Nost code was perfect; it was not and we all know it. However, the Anathema core is significantly worse than the Nost core, and I think you should go back to the Nost core until Anathema is *actually* ready. I know you promised Nost that you wouldn't use their core, but they've turned into a bunch of twats and no one gives a shit what they think anyway. But the last couple of days, things have been really glitchy. Things that had been stable up until recently. When you're in a group, the leader can change randomly. Player dies? Leader changes. Zone in or out? Leader changes. The party interface itself has been buggy. I did a DM:N Tribute with 2 people showing offline in the interface and one showing as dead the entire time. Questing in Ashenvale, I had murlocs swimming through the ground near the shore. Turning in quests without sufficient bag space doesn't trigger any sort of a warning, in fact, you get the sound bite for quest completion, it just doesn't actually complete. It's not unplayable; you can work around all these things. But it feels like a brand new server with fresh scripting, not a tested and polished one. Like I said, I'd play on the Anathema core. Would've continued playing on it had I not gotten to go back to the toons that I love. But you HAVE a better core and the only thing keeping you from using it is a sense of respect. And hey, what Nost did was worthy of respect. But their behavior the last couple of months has trashed any respect owed to them. So screw Nost, use their core, and let's all move forward with the best Vanilla experience available!

There is an ignore feature. In your social panel, under the "friends" tab, there's a second tab for "ignore". You click ignore player and then either type in the player's name or right click their name in the chat log and bam, you see nothing from that person ever again. Not in channels, not in whispers, not in group.
-
Here's a real simple solution. If you see someone using DM to refer to deadmines in world/trade/general(city), put them on your ignore list. Then you don't have to group with retards in later dungeons.

Our official response to Nostalrius — Elysium will prevail!SpottedCow replied to Shenna's topic in Official Information At least they're not bowing under to Nost completely and shutting the whole project down. Seriously, fuck those pricks. I'm a pretty chill guy, but I'd fuck them up if they weren't across an ocean from me. Thanks Elysium for not fucking us in the ass. Much appreciated.
