I think he means- Respec costs get decreased over time if you don't respec (I think it goes down once per month, to the previous highest cost, IE, a 50g respec would reduce to 45g if you don't respec for 1 month) and he's wondering if respec costs are going to be "reset" because our characters have been inactive for so long.

Yep, you don't *NEED* to buy the BoE wands, but if you can find them cheap, go right ahead. The Gravestone Scepter will be good through the mid-30s, and you can get Fizzle's Zippy Lighter around level 37-38 from a 4 or 5-quest chain that starts in Shimmering Flats, then goes to Badlands, then southern STV. It's only a minor upgrade, but it's free from a quest. There's also Burning Sliver from a level ~38 group quest in Hillsbrad. You can also skip out on the Allistarj and try to get Noxious Shooter from Maraudon. Lots of other wands that you can get; I just suggested a couple of BoE ones that are easily and cheaply acquired.

Enhance your graphics without any mod-BS

I tried this and didn't notice any difference, other than more stuff on the ground. -
You don't *NEED* to upgrade your wand all the time, but being that it's your main source of damage as a leveling Priest, it's always good to keep it updated. They've never been too expensive, all of the times I leveled a Priest. Earthen Rod was always around 5-7g, and Wand of Allistarj was always around 10-15g. They're cheap because they have no (useful) stats on them, and thus, they're really only useful for priests and maybe warlocks.

Yeah, I listed that one. IIRC you can pick that quest up at level 18, though I'm not sure about the follow-up quest within the dungeon. I think that one requires 19. I remember on Nost, someone getting that quest at 18 and then being unable to pick up the next part inside the dungeon. The wand itself is like level 27 or 28, which is why getting it at level 20 feels so nice.

Pretty sure it still does damage even if the debuff is knocked off. Mind Flay works the same way; even when the debuff is removed, the channel continues and the damage still goes through. But yeah, Arcane is sh!t simply because Frost/Fire are way higher DPS.

Macros can't automatically taunt mobs that aren't targeting you. For AoE threat, you have Battle Shout and Demo Shout. Believe it or not, Battle Shout DOES generate threat, when you apply the buff to yourself and other players. It generates a certain amount of threat for each party member that you buff, and then equally distributes that threat to all the mobs. Demo Shout applies a set amount of threat to all mobs it hits. You can also Bloodrage after a ranged (bow/gun) pull, because resource generation generates some threat. So what you can do is stand within 20 yards of the rest of the group, hit your gun/bow, then as soon as the mobs start running toward you, bloodrage and battle shout. That should be a decent bit of AoE threat to get you started. But for the most part, you just tab-target Sunders / Revenges / Heroic Strikes for "aoe threat".

Please help me choose a class

With 15 minute class-wide blessings and PallyPower addon, it's not really that difficult. -
Is warrior a good choice for a first time vanilla raider?
gotmilk0112 replied to Lothbrok's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Though I would argue that how a class plays 1-20 is not a good representation of how it plays at 60. Warrior is painfully boring from 1-30 or so, because you just autoattack and Heroic Strike for the most part. It's not until 36+ that you start getting more abilities to use and feel less gimped. -

Prefered Healer in Vanilla?
gotmilk0112 replied to Megan's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
There is no single "best" healer, they all excel at different things. Priest is the most versatile, having good ST heals, shields, and a decent HoT, but they're not too good at raid healing; often getting sniped by Flash-spamming Paladins. Paladins have their lovely buffs, but healing-wise, you're just spamming Flash of Light nonstop. Good raid healing, because of Flash of Light being fast and cheap. You almost never run out of mana. They're better suited to cancelcasting big heals on the tank. Shamans, no real idea. Never played horde in vanilla. I've heard they're great raid healers with Chain Heal though, and totems are always nice. Druids, again, I don't know much about them because I've never played one in vanilla. From what I'm told, they're basically just there to throw some HoTs, brez the baddies, and innervate the Priests. They're not preferred in 5mans though, because they do not have a normal rez. -
Also, you can add an ability to the end of the macro, like so: /run if not AtkSpell then for AtkSlot = 12,72 do if IsAttackAction(AtkSlot) then AtkSpell = AtkSlot;end;end;end; if not IsCurrentAction(AtkSpell) then UseAction(AtkSpell);end; /cast Mortal Strike

There are no bad classes/specs, outside of fire mage in MC/BWL. If you're a good player, you'll do fine in PvP and get a raid spot. -
Rough time played estimates
gotmilk0112 replied to meddlingmage's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Not everyone is talking about fresh start servers all the time. And why exactly are you assuming that we're assuming zero competition? -
Unless you're getting into lots of PvP catfights, you shouldn't be having mana problems with just Spirit Tap.

Rough time played estimates
gotmilk0112 replied to meddlingmage's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Yeah, the average /played to go from 1-60 is 10 days or 240-250 hours. But if you know what you're doing, you can do it in a lot less. IIRC the fastest vanilla leveler in the world could level Hunters 1-60 in about 4.5 days. Leveling speed depends on the class, but all classes are capable of leveling 1-60 solo in 6-7 days /played. 1-20 can be done in about 12 hours /played, if you skip professions and just do questing/grinding. Not sure about the rest of the timings, never really noticed. -
Can i use WOD models on this server?
gotmilk0112 replied to Raphael21's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
A lot of people around here have a massive, throbbing hateboner for anything related to retail. /shrug -
Yeah, this guide is not made for fresh server launches.
-
I like the "grinding" because the time spent gets you more invested in your character. That and, for some classes like Priest and pre-MS Warrior, it's nice to just hit autoattack on the mob and then alt tab and do something else while you wait for it to die.
-
I think that for questing, Imp. Cleave might be better than Sweeping Strikes. Mostly because Cleave has no CD. And you can get Imp Cleave 10 levels earlier. With a pocket healer, you can just pull 2 mobs at a time and use Cleave instead of Heroic Strike. Though, once you get to 40, yeah, it's better to go full arms for mortal strike.
-
We're not getting BC for a long fcking time, so I'm not sure why you're posting about it now.
-
Yep. He claims that Prot Paladins should be main tanks, while simultaneously claiming that if you're not in a tanking/healing spec for leveling dungeons, you are being subpar and he would kick you from the group.

Starting fresh and making gold!
gotmilk0112 replied to Aekae's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Game is 12 years old. There are no "super secret farming spots" anymore. And this was on Nost, mind you. Even with its high population, I was the only one there killing jaguars. 7k online and I was the only one at that spot. -

Go Herb/Alch, or for max cash, Herb/Skin. Herbalism starts off slow, but once you get to Mageroyal/Briarthorn/Bruiseweed, you can start getting Swiftthistle which will sell decently because it's used by level 60s to make Swiftness potions. A single Swiftthistle will sell for anywhere between 50s and 1g, so you can make some good starting gold for yourself. Skinning is also pretty straight forward. You won't really make any money from it until you get to Medium/Heavy leather though, but even vendoring it, that's still extra gold that you wouldn't have gotten otherwise. -
Virus when clicking Torrent link
gotmilk0112 replied to Zionna's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
It means you don't have any torrenting programs installed, like BitTorrent or uTorrent. The link is what is called a "magnet link", which is read by torrent programs. Personally, I use a torrent client called "Deluge". All you need to do is install it, and it will automatically associate magnet links with itself, and after that you just click the link and it will automatically open Deluge and let you start downloading.
