Are you going to play on Elysium TBC realm? (poll)Guardian452 replied to Welterschaft's topic in The Burning Crusade There needs to be a 3rd choice... "Eventually... once I'm done with Vanilla content". The problem I see myself having is that I'll want to do as much Vanilla content as I can, but then I'll have my TBC copy lagging in levels and gear. While it's probably not possible, it would be nice if an account could be excluded from the initial copy to TBC and then flip the switch at a later date to migrate over. Maybe something like a check box on the website control panel... have it default to "Yes, copy my account to TBC" and we could uncheck the box before a deadline. Then have a button to transfer the account when we're ready. Since I'm on Darrowshire, I know I'll have to wait a bit until TBC hits... but still, a way to delay the copy would be nice.

Too Many Vanilla Veterans!Guardian452 replied to PassionateLearner's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions The thing is... you are a noob... and so am I. I think what a lot of people forget is that they were noobs once too.

Too Many Vanilla Veterans!Guardian452 replied to PassionateLearner's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions While I'm not totally new to WoW... I played retail either just before or after TBC came out, then quit for over a decade due to lack of time, and then my boss (of all people) introduced me to Elysium just over 2 months ago... so I can sympathize with what you're saying to a degree. (I think I'm now either up to or past how far I got on retail.) I'll compare your experience to when I was playing Final Fantasy X-2. I clocked multiple hundreds of hours on that game... going from beginning to end at least 5 or 6 times. I saw every end game scenario, followed every story line branch, got every outfit for the girls......... at no point did it feel like a job. It was fun to see and do it all and to test myself if I could do something better then the last run. To build off of what Nelythia said above, the vets are probably playing WoW the same way... testing themselves with each run. You should look for a guild/group of newer players, ones that are still learning things... or just go solo and enjoy living in the world as it is. (Do you feel the same way about real people that are in their 60s that have done and seen so much more than you?) Finally... "Do you feel special that you've memorized everything in a 13 year old game?"... you could have left that off, you were doing great until then. That last part just comes off as being a dick.

Is that 3.70 or 3.69? Did you review your Questie settings? If it's 3.70... hit the icon by the mini-map to bring up the settings panel. There are slider bars in the lower left to adjust the min/max quest levels shown. If it's 3.69... you'll have to use the slash commands in the chat bar.

I've been playing for just over 2 months now. I rolled on Darrowshire since I'm a very casual player and don't want to worry about any PvP issues. Having the low population is also a plus as it doesn't get laggy or crash due to the server being overloaded and I've never had to wait for respawns because an area was farmed out. (I did have to wait once... and only once... to turn in a quest, but that was because someone killed the NPC.) If you're really not sure, start a character on all 3 and see which one you like the best after grinding away for a few days.

Unless it's in the built in options... chances are you'll need an addon for those. Check out the big list here.

Are new players allowed? Why won't it send me a verifications Email?Guardian452 replied to Shyftie's topic in Help & Support I can tell you with 100% certainty that it is totally free to play on Elysium... I wouldn't be here if I had to pay a monthly fee. It's not even pay-to-win. There was a donation drive not too long ago for new server hardware, but that was it. That being said, it took me 2 or 3 tries of re-sending the verification email for it to land in my Gmail account. Yes, it's frustrating, but keep trying. It'll work eventually. Good luck and welcome aboard.

[Addon] pfUI - An ElvUI inspired Addon entirely written from scratchGuardian452 replied to shagu's topic in UI, AddOns & Macros This is what you're looking for. Panel... Other Panel: Minimap Disabling it won't ACTUALLY remove the panel, just turn it into an empty black box... but you can assign other text to it instead.

[Addon] pfUI - An ElvUI inspired Addon entirely written from scratchGuardian452 replied to shagu's topic in UI, AddOns & Macros The one that shows the name of the zone under the map? There is. It's in the "Panels" section of the pfUI settings. (I think... either way, it's in there somewhere.) I'm at work, or else I'd post a screenshot. You can also change what's displayed there like with the bars at the bottom of the left and right panels.

(I don't have a Mac... but this should point you sorta in the right direction.) Questie actually lives in a sub-folder called "!Questie". You'll either need to move the "!Questie" folder into your addons, or create a Symlink with a tool similar to the one in my quick guide to keep addons updated. Good luck.

[ADDON] organise mini button at MiniMapGuardian452 replied to ikswezclam's topic in UI, AddOns & Macros MBF works just fine... you need to be sure to either setup a Symlink using my guide here... or move the "MinimapButtonFrame" folder out of the "-vanilla" folder and into Addons, it can't be nested. The Symlink would be the better option if you used GitDesktop to clone the repo... then you can use GD to keep it updated and not constantly have to move the folder out of -vanilla.

Do you mean you want the number value on the bar? Like this? If so... you want to be in... pfUI settings > Unit Frames > Player > Power Bar Texts (all the way at the bottom)

Saving Vanilla after TBC.Guardian452 replied to jmul1212's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions Yeah, I'm one of those guys that will probably never see end game content... but you never know. I'm following his thought process the same way. It would allow folks like myself the ability to work on the Vanilla content and then move to TBC+ at our own pace... or not at all. Very smart indeed. Give that man a gold star.

I NEED A LEVELING BUDyGuardian452 replied to SoulCptTin's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions Yondo, lvl 20 Rogue. I'm currently working around Ironforge... but I do have quests and such to do in Westfall. I'm usually on between 8.30p - 10p Pacific during the week... 10p - ? Pacific during the weekend. I mostly solo, but add me to your friends and send a whisper. I'll check in with you when I'm in your area.

I think someone on another thread also said that FIOS also throttles the connection... so that's also where the better ping using a VPN comes in. To my knowledge, Spectrum doesn't throttle or have data caps.
-
I think you pretty much answered your own question. Go with where you're going to have the most fun. For me, I don't PVP and I'm a fairly casual player that doesn't want to compete with a bunch of people for mobs or items... do Darrowshire was the perfect choice for me.

Question about the patch situation.Guardian452 replied to Displayname's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions https://elysium-project.org/timeline Did you look at the main site... like, at all? (not trying to be an ass... but seriously, did you take at least 2 seconds to actually look around?)
-
No, sorry. I don't have a clue. I know there are various threads around that have it tho.

What about them isn't working? Let's use Atlas Loot and Questie as examples... since I've tried both and can confirm they work. Follow my guide here and let us know how it goes... https://forum.elysium-project.org/topic/46064-keeping-addons-up-to-date/?do=findComment&comment=429688

How do I track ore nodes? No AddOn tab either.Guardian452 replied to timk's topic in Blacksmithing & Mining I think the AddOns button doesn't show up until you actually have some in the folder. But Gatherer and the separate Elysium data file do work... I'm using them for treasure hunting.

The highest ping I've ever had for Darrowshire has been in the low 200s... and that's while streaming music from Youtube and also broadcasting to Twitch. Even then, I've never experienced any actual "lag". (I used to play Quake on dial up, back in the day... so I kinda remember what real lag is like. Ha.) I think the server is actually somewhere in France... or roundabouts that region... but I could be wrong.
-
If you're using GitDesktop to pull down the addon... use this method instead, then you won't break the sync with Git and you can keep it up to date easier... https://forum.elysium-project.org/topic/46064-keeping-addons-up-to-date/?do=findComment&comment=429688

It's also my understanding that these servers are in France... or somewhere around there. So there a lot of places between us and them that could be causing the breakdown. As someone else said in another thread... internet speed is not a constant.

Left Coast here, LA area. (yes, I know it's the wrong side of the country... but just for comparison.) Usually get around 170ms when I'm on in the evening... after work and my kids are in bed... so around 8p-ish. No VPN... Spectrum cable for internet... contracted for 100mb down and 10mb up. If I turn off QoS on my router I can pull 120mb down and push out 12mb... with QoS on, I usually pull around 90mb down and push 9mb out.
