Pretty much, the faster you launch fresh, the only chance you'll have to restore any amount of population you once had. The three realms you are bringing up will never have even close to the same population as before, majority of people and guilds are settled into LH and will have no incentive to return.

The arguments/shilling going on here is pointless. Many of us here are still waiting on an explanation of how exactly this recovery tool works. More and more evidence still pointing it to be a botnet that has a risk of compromising your information to 3rd party. Waiting for that supposed transparency from Crogge/Shenna ...

Hence why I am asking for full transparency from those at the top on how this tool DOES work, something that should have been done from the very beginning, and honestly something that has been very lacking so far, despite their promises to produce more of it (transparency/openess).

That is not my resource, but I'll try and be civil here - let's see some transparency from the top regarding this process. Detail exactly how the information is being taken from the Light's Hope servers and being sent back to Elysium, and why there is no risk of information being compromised. And include these details when selecting the "Restore characters" link, so people know exactly what they are doing when they initiate this process.

Honestly? If they made a fresh server, I would come back and play for around a week or two. After that I would compare populations between both scenes and determine where I want to stay. I don't follow or care much for the drama between both sides, however I have settled into Light's Hope since it opened and have leveled/geared my characters since then. I'm not interested in losing around 2 weeks of progress, thus I have no reason to return unless there is some major incentive (and no, something in my mailbox like they have alluded to isn't enough).

Well he is arguing that the majority of Elysium population moved to Light's Hope after the data transfer, and it's likely that very few will return once this is eventually up and running, so the only way to get some amount of activity is through a fresh realm.

Just google the 1.12.1 torrent. The realms are not up though.

Elysium is dead regardless, majority of players who left for Light's Hope are settled in with their friends/guilds and aren't coming back, they have almost no reason to unless LH completely goes away around the same time. Fresh might keep things interesting. Yeah it might not have lasting appeal, but IMO that's Elysium's only chance at this point. And jumping to BC likely isn't viable, the main BC devs moved with the rest of the team to LH.

Yep pretty much correct. LH servers are peaking at 9k population every day with absolutely no lag and very few crashes, most players and their guilds are settled in and won't be moving back, even with minimal rollback. Too much time has passed and the issue of corruption is still fresh on everyone's mind (pun intended). Now, will a fresh realm have any lasting appeal? Difficult to say, but it's basically Ely's only chance at this point.
