Getting started, account creation

Recommended Posts

Is my forum account user name and password the same as having created a game account? Is there a "getting started" type section on the website somewhere?

Thank you

On the main page I see "play now" and "control panel" on the sidebar, along with others. When I click "play now" it just says maintenance. "Control panel" takes me to my forum login.

Could someone answer this question: Is my forum login information the same as my in-game account?

If it is not, can you tell me specifically where on the main page's sidebar to find the game account registration?

Update: Forum login information is not the same as an in-game account.

Now that maintenance is over, I was able to create a game account via the "play now" option. This did not send me a confirmation link to an email and it says I'm ready to play, but when I tried to login the game says the information typed is either misspelled or wrong. I checked several times, and it is not misspelled.

set realmlist 149.202.221.177   (is what I'm using)

What might be the problem?

Hi soilwork,

First off, welcome to the community!  The devs spent this weekend upgrading the server hardware, so things have been kind of bumpy the last couple of days and is not the norm for this server.

In my experience, when I have the wrong realmlist, I don't get an error message, I just get insta-disconnected (because I never connected).  So the fact that you're receiving that particular error tells me that your realmlist is pointing to a valid server and that the login credentials for that server is incorrect.  If I were you, I would confirm (again) that your realmlist saved correctly.  Try "logon.valkyrie-wow.com" as the realmlist address.

If you're convinced the realmlist is correct, try creating a 2nd account and see if you can login with that.  It's possible something got mixed up with your new account during the server maintenance period.
