New to Nostalrius and want to take part in the stress test

Hello, long time wow player (though I quit during WOTLK, too much bullshit tbh) and I'm really excited about this server!

 

My question is, I have no idea what to download or how to connect, as well as how to register.

 

Can someone please help? I know I'm probably missing something but I read the sticky threads and searched around online.

 

Also, is this website supposed to load so slow? It takes me 5 minutes to log in sometimes.

Hay there.

 

You're gonna need a WoW client version 1.12.1

Then you just replace realmlist.wtf in the game folder with the one available here or change it's contents to match the server's manually. That can be done by opening it in any text editing program - notepad for example.

 

It was said, that it should be "set realmlist logon.elysium-project.org" but currently it contains "set realmlist logon.valkyrie-wow.com". I'd say just stay tuned and wait for the official announcements on the topic.

 

This page would normally have all the nesessary information - game client links as well as an account registration form - but servers are not up yet, so I guess they have decided to temporary take it down.

 

Since I didn't have to download the 1.12.1 client for a long time, all I can think of right now would be opening

that link with your torrent client in case if you wanna start downloading it in advance. Or you can search for a 1.12.1 client yourself - almost any one should work just fine, but there are some servers that modify their clients so those would only connect to them. Another option would be waiting for some staff member to show up with a safe link for you. Or for the upcoming hardware tests - hopefully links will be back by then.

 

I don't know much about the web being slow - as far as I know, it was working on another hardware prior to the whole Nostalrius database transfer thing and it wasn't prepared to such traffic. I guess it was changed recently, but that probably have only helped to some extent. I do experience it too though.

Note that the realmlist.wtf in that will direct you to old Nostalrius, so you have to edit the file with Notepad as Motorbreath said. It should read:

 

set realmlist logon.elysium-project.org

If you get an error when attempting to save the .txt file for your realmlist, OR it reverts back every time you open it, it is because of your UAC settings.

 

To quickly get around this, click and drag that .txt file to your desktop, edit the realmlist and save the txt file, then  click and drag it back to where you pulled it from.

Yes, the test is on the 20th, 18:00 GMT+1 which is server time.
