Moonknight 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2016 How does weapon skill work in PvP? I have tried Googling this and searching all sorts of forums, but I can't seem to get a concrete answer. I know that in PvE at least, for every point your weapon skill is higher than the target's defense skill, you have... 0.04% less chance to miss 0.04% less chance to be blocked 0.04% less chance to be parried 0.04% less chance to be dodged 0.04% more chance to crit. Is this also true in PvP? Are there other things weapon skill will affect in PvP? Thanks!
Ourk 5 Report post Posted November 19, 2016 (edited) How does weapon skill work in PvP? When you fight versus a player (PvP), your weapon skills are maxed in regard of your level. The formulae is: weapon skill = 5 x (your lvl) For example, you're a 10th lvl rogue and you attack a player's character during a Warsong Gulch battle with a dagger. Then, the game considers that you have 50 in Dagger Weapon Skill even if it's not the actual number written on your Characters Skills window (K). So, your weapon skills values as they are written on your character sheet don't affect PvP ratings. But some exceptions exist: - Racial traits (like Gun Specialization (Dwarf), Mace Specialization (Human), etc.) - Talents (like Weapon Expertise (rogue), etc.) - Weapons with +skill attributes (like Distracting Dagger, etc.) - Items with +skill attributes (like Mugger's Belt, etc.) - Set bonus (like The Twin Blades of Hakkari, etc.) These exceptions affect PvP hit/crit/etc. ratings. Moonknight 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2016 (edited) So how about defense rating? Is that normalized to 5*(player level) + bonuses from equipment and talents similar to weapon skill? And does defense and weapon skill work the same as it does in PvE, besides the glancing blows? Basically, if I roll as a human warrior and benefit from the +5 to maces and swords, does that mean that unless the enemy player has any defense bonuses from talent or equipment, I will only have 0.2% less chance to miss, be dodged, be parried, be blocked, and to crit? Undertanker 88 Report post Posted November 19, 2016 Weapon skill while world pvping does matter though since you are not given max skill automatically like in battleground; just not as much as PVE.
slippery 4 Report post Posted November 19, 2016 Weapon skill while world pvping does matter though since you are not given max skill automatically like in battleground; just not as much as PVE. Wrong. When attacking other players the only thing that you lose by not having weapon skill maxed is the crit %. Defense works in PvP, you will miss with 5% hit vs people wearing defense gear.

But doesn't defense just work the reverse as weapon skill? http://wowwiki.wikia.com/index.php?title=Defense&oldid=238467 each point in defense: Increases the chance of being missed by an attack by .04% Increases the chance to Dodge an attack by .04% Increases the chance to Parry an attack by .04% Increases the chance to Block an attack by .04% Decreases the chance of being affected by a Critical Hit by .04%

When you attack another player the game treats you as having 300 weapon skill. When you attack a player with defense it treats them as having 300 defense + whatever else they have on their items.
