Cletus 1 Report post Posted December 6, 2016 Back in old school vanilla I raided MC / BWL / AQ as a priest, and PVPd pretty heavily on a mage, but both were alliance. I kinda want to roll Shammy on the new server but I'm curious how they play PVP / 5 man / raid since the specs and abilities seem so widely varied. Anyone have some good guides they know of? Or care to share their hard earned vanilla knowledge?

Cletus 1 Report post Posted December 6, 2016 (edited) I guess my main question is about the crossover between 5 man and pvp play, since I dont have much time for raiding anymore. My mage's pvp spec was also 100% viable in any non-raid instance, but mages are a bit of a one trick pony (hit things). Resto shaman looks like a viable healer for pve, but healing in BGs gets boring after a while. I've been on the receiving end of some pretty huge shaman burst damage in the past, but do they do enough to be real dps in a group? Or are they actually a legit hybrid class, unlike pallys? I'm gonna play one regardless, but I'm impatient and don't want to wait for launch to get some kind of WoW fix, even if it's just knowledge. Thanks for the help. Motorbreath 923 Report post Posted December 6, 2016 You're in luck then, because 5ppl content and PvP is where shamans truly shine. You may have some problems finding your place as a raid damage dealer to get good pixels for enh/elem, but you can still get some pretty decent ones through pre-raid and PvP alone. Also 5ppl content isn't that spec-critical, so, if needed, you can always put on your healing set and do just fine in most cases. It's a pretty decent hybrid - simply less defensive and more agressive than paladin. As of dps, you can do it - maybe not as good as pure damage dealers, but that's always the case. Some people will turn their noses of course, but, as I always say, don't turn your nose away from healing and team playing and they will change their minds. Being an experienced healer I bet you know it just as good as I do. You don't have to be a full restor to heal at battlegrounds; shaman talent trees mix pretty well, so you can find your own balance. I did shaman PvP in many specs including restor and elem (with enh being my main one). Honestly, I think, you'll be okay as long as you play smart. T1 restor with Herald of Woe wasn't that bad at smashing faces actually. You can take a look at some of my videos, most gear is battlegrounds, pre-raid, ZG and MC - don't let the orange thingie fool you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bga1IAZq2fM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cV9jI97eDEc

Motorbreath 923 Report post Posted December 6, 2016 No probs. You can always pm me if you have some more questions regarding, basic mechanics, talents, itemisation, leveling and PvP strategies... You name it. I think I'll be playing paladin there as well.

Hirag 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2016 (edited) http://www.wow-one.com/forum/topic/76487-the-bloodskull-school-of-enhancement/ for pvp. Very good guide, i recommand it. http://www.wow-one.com/forum/topic/12810-official-enhancement-shaman-pve-guide/ for pve. Need verification for the pre-raid gear. I still belive that a mix between strengh and intellect can be good. Edited December 14, 2016 by Hirag
