Stuck between mage / warlock, who to pick?

I want to roll either a fire/frost mage for dps and utility like teleports / portals , could be useful for the party I'm with

 

or

 

warlock for the dps / dots

 

 

opinions? Which is better?

Warlock always seemed like a safe bet. I can remember filling warlock spots was more difficult than mage spots.

 

Each are valuable but history repeats itself here on Elysium, roll a warlock and spec to raid.

warlock summoning portal and soulstone are far more utility than a mage can bring. portals dont really do anything. its not like raids are in major cities.

Warlock is a lot more versatile and fun. My personal opinion of course.

Both are solid picks for PvE and PvP. Mages tend to outperform Warlocks early on, but Warlocks eventually start swinging back around during the later raids.

 

As far as deciding goes, I'd look at the play styles of each and figure out which looks more enjoyable to you.

Don't have mana [Life Tap]
Don't have life [Life drain]

Don't know who must die first [MORE DOTS]
So you know who must die first [sB/SF or Just destro build] for insane burst dmg
You need CC someone but you think [sheep] will brake it, pffffff [FEAR][FEAR][FEAR] and do damage to cc target
You think what good POM+Pyro spec or Frost or even Fire. But you don't like it  PFFFFFFF  TONS OF WARLOCK BUILD

Having the same issue..I keep seeing  videos of mage aoe farming (can locks do that?) but I like the tank pet for ease of leveling. I remember mage being difficult to level and having to drink every 1-2 mobs.

locks can aoe farm to some extend, but nothing like a mage.
