SEAL TWISTING 101

Recommended Posts

You swap seals when your swing animation, of any sorts, happens. Even if it isn’t a seal of command proc you can swap seals and still have SoJ proc off your white attack with this method. Seal of Command MUST be your starting seal, from there you can swap seals to any of the other seals that are procs. However, the only ones that would serve a high benefit is Seal of Justice, and for those lucky souls, Seal of Blood.

Seal of Command has a 1 sec internal cool down, also the reason it wont proc off of windfury or reckoning twice. These mechanics where put in place because before you could swing with a white attack and then your seal of command could be out of range, so they put them closer together, and this was their method.

Exploiting or creative use of mechanics? No one knows except Blizzard, but this is a make-shift substitute for a spell interrupt that is long over due.

TL;DR:

1. put on seal of command

2. right as your swing animation happens (normal, socomm proc, or crit) swap seals to SoJ or SoB

3. Profit`

What exactly is seal twisting?
It's using 2 seals at one time per swing.

What combination of seals can you use per seal twist?
Anything that has seal of command with it (works effectively with seal of justice and seal of blood specifically).
Note: It's not a 100% proc rate, it's only when seal of command procs.

How do you do it?

First you need to get a swing timer mod, I personally suggest Quartz ( but any mod with one will work)

Second.. You must have seal of command up before you attempt to do this.

Third.. Right before you swing ( about .1 seconds before you swing) you activate another seal such as blood or justice and you will get an extra seal proc if your seal of command procs

Basically it'l go like this Seal of command -> Right before swing cast Seal of (whatever) - > seal of command procs + an extra seal procs.

You must have command up in order to do this, you cannot twist from seal of justice to seal of command or seal of blood to command.. it has to be command to blood or command to justice.

The thing with this is, it uses alot of mana but it's definantly worth if your horde and you get it to proc.

Why? You will get 2 blood procs and one command proc.. You get 1 seal of blood proc from your white swing and since your command proc counts as melee, you will also get another blood proc. So basically White swing + seal of command + seal of blood + seal of blood = pwnage (in one swing).`

Is there any reason you didn't mention Righteousness? Also, Righteousness vs Crusader? And how will your mana be like in a raid if you twist, can you even overcome the mana consumption with pots/runes/buffs?

Very nice explanation.

The question remains will this work .... if i remember correctly command procs were not triggering wep procs and when critted it did not proc vengeance too.

How long do you expect to have the mana for constantly swapping your seal? SoC can be r1 but the other seal should consume a lot of mana? What is your approach there?

That would suck pretty hard and needs to be fixed.

The screenshots were from Feenix where I was just testing things out - in the duels with Wheathicks I used Crusader to boost SoC dmg from the AP bonus.

While grinding mobs in Badlands, I tried out Seal of Justice and you can see the mob being stunned and then the SoC proc afterwards.

You can try out Seal of Righteousness in the Seal Twisting rotation as well - although without any gear with spell damage available on any Nost server as of yet, it may not be ideal - either way though it all needs to be tested and flushed out.

when I was on the nost ptr during the last stress test SoC crits were triggering vengence so we're good there but I did not have any weapons/trinkets with chance on hit damage effects so I could not test whether their crits would also trigger vengence.

my nost paladin that I transfered over to elysium however does and I will test that out tomorrow upon server launch

it's a balance - and seal twisting by its very nature requires time and practice to hone and master properly

Isn't it safe to assume if you gear with Str/crit, you go with SotC; if you gear with Str/crit/SP (T2.5) you go SoR?

I still can't see how you could keep this up in a raiding environment.

yes and no - since SoR can now trigger item/weapon/trinket procs it may be better overall as it would look something like this:

white hit

SoR proc

SoC proc

SoR proc

that's 4 chances to proc all your Lifestealing enchant, direct damage trinkets, or weapon procs

and don't forget these lovely items:

Blazefury Medallion

Binds when picked up

Neck

+13 Agility

+14 Stamina

+12 Fire Resistance

Requires Level 60

Equip: Adds 2 fire damage to your melee attacks.

Fiery Plate Gauntlets

Binds when equipped

Hands

Plate

379 Armor

+10 Fire Resistance

Durability 45 / 45

Requires Level 53

Equip: Adds 4 fire damage to your weapon attack.

Storm Gauntlets

Binds when equipped

Hands

Mail

218 Armor

+7 Intellect

+10 Fire Resistance

Durability 40 / 40

Requires Level 54

Equip: Adds 3 Lightning damage to your melee attacks.

Equip: Increases damage done by Nature spells and effects by up to 21.

Theloras so... the better choice for PVE and PVP its Judge seal of the crusader, then put SoC and seal twist it when proc with SoR?

potentially yes - even without the availability of many items with +spell dmg currently available on any of the servers (except for the updated PvP sets)

it will all have to be tested and flushed out starting tomorrow in order to know for sure.

only caveat is that given the fluid and hectic gameplay in PvP, seal twisting is much harder to do in that aspect of the game compared to PvE

you cant seal twist with righteous

This appears to be true and IIRC SoR can only proc off of a white attack not a yellow (ie: off of SoC) - as when I first tested it out several years ago back on feenix, the dev there said that was how it was coded.

seal_twist_nope.jpg

However, I was able to boost SoC proc dmg by Seal Twisting SotC into the mix to get the AP bonus:

All in all Seal Twisting is a difficult art to master - especially with the server lag since launch - has anyone else been successful with trying it out?
