mcabe123 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2016 There is a bug that many Mac users encounter when they travel between the two continents when taking a boat or a zeppelin: they get dropped in the fatigue zone and are usually forced to spirit resurrect, sometimes even dropped underneath a zone, stuck and need a game master's assistance to teleport them to the correct zone. For example, at the time of writing this I had just taken the boat from Menetil Harbor, Wetlands to Theramore, Duskwallow Marsh, unfortunately I didn't make it to Theramore as I was dropped underneath Dire Maul where I was stuck needing to hearth and try again as a level 22 couldn't get through the zone. As it is the holiday season there were no game masters online to assist me. Upon wasting 20 more minutes getting to the boat and waiting, the same thing happened as I was dropped into Feralas, this time without a hearth. My solution: In the early days of Vanilla the boat that would take players from Auburdine to Menethil Harbor didn't work, so Blizzard implemented two NPC's to teleport people from the two way points, one for each direction. http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/wowwiki/images/7/75/Captain_Placeholder.jpg/revision/20070324064718 http://wowwiki.wikia.com/wiki/Captain_Placeholder I think it would be helpful for Mac users if this was implemented for all boats and zeppelins. Even if we implemented a small monetary charge similar to a flight path to avoid people abusing a teleport? Would definitely love an easier method to take boats for a Mac user. This could encourage people to continue using the boats rather than teleporting. However there is definitely the problem that all higher levels with deeper pockets would just pay the fee every time, while lower level characters would be heavier affected each time they took the boat, although it would only really affect lower level Mac users as there is no need for PC players to worry about using the NPC. Obviously this is merely a suggestion that could be improved by the staff or other players, let me know what you all think!
void_echo 10 Report post Posted December 26, 2016 I don't know if you're aware of this, but from what I've heard, using a Windows client on Wine works to get rid of this issue.
kastle 4 Report post Posted December 27, 2016 As a mac user who also has this problem, running WoW on Wine is a pretty annoying work around just to use the boats/zepplins. On original Nost we still got kicked off the boat but we were at least at the destination it just took a short swim. Is there a reason why now we're getting dropped off as soon as we load near the new continent?
Xyf 1 Report post Posted December 27, 2016 That is not a solution, just a band aid fix. A solution means identifying the problem (what is different on mac vs pc and why it happens) and fixing so it does not happen.
mcabe123 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2016 (edited) I boat a Mac for school as I like it better for school work, after seeing my friends macbook Air I bought my Mac desktop from the money I earned at my internship over the Summer. I was also tired of the way windows was, I didn't like Windows 10 so I went with the alternative, I don't really play video games so the only game affected is WoW. And before you ask, this is my only computer. My other computer was almost 8 years old and was basically dead by the summer. Yes this is true, however many private servers have this issue so while the Elysium staff could put time and effort into fixing a problem that they don't know how to fix, they could instead just put an NPC in to band-aid it as you said. This would allow the staff to spend time on implementing raids and fixing other bugs. This is not a criticism of what you said, I appreciate the feedback!
martigan 1 Report post Posted December 29, 2016 Here is a solution that has worked for me. Someone suggested it and I've been passing this along to other mac users. Once you are on the boat and the boat starts to leave, /camp. Wait a minute, maybe 20 extra seconds...log back in. You will end up in the right place.

I guess I was wrong on the NPC, this may be good enough. As it is an inconvenience it's very minor. Wish I knew about this earlier!
kastle 4 Report post Posted December 29, 2016 Works like a charm, thanks!
martigan 1 Report post Posted December 29, 2016 With this workaround, it's really a bonus for Mac users. When I take the boat from Menethil to Darkshore, I can just stay logged in if I want to go to ratchet instead. It's like having extra boats... except the boat that drops you off in the middle of the ocean east of arathi highlands.
Pottu 290 Report post Posted January 5, 2017 This should be at least partially fixed now.
