Recommended Posts

Patch 1.5.0 7 June 2005 4442 1500
  • Battlegrounds are introduced:
  • All members of both the Horde and Alliance are reporting low stockpiles of various textile resources! Donations of cloth are now being accepted in the following locations: Darnassus, Stormwind, and Ironforge for the Alliance; Orgrimmar, Undercity, and Thunder Bluff for the Horde. Seek out an official Cloth Quartermaster for more information.
Patch 1.7.0 13 September 2005 4671 1700

According to the old Nost timeline (https://elysium-project.org/timeline), Warsong and AB are available at launch. By looking at WoW's history, we see that the game started off with no battlegrounds and then were added in later patches.

BG's need to be delayed so that world pvp is the only way to rank up. Blizzard released the pvp patch then for several months players had to go out into the world to get their pvp gear. This would make the world a more exciting place because players will be bloodthirsty for their ranks and are unavailable to unleash their honor farming on the battlefield for a short amount of time.

The fresh timeline will not be revealed until next Sunday, but according to the official announcements the new server will have the exact same timeline as the other 2 realms.

The servers don't follow the timeline 100% for everything.

For example, Nost had battlemasters even though the server hadn't reached the patch where battlemasters were introduced.

Although I feel nostalgia when I remind myself of those 24/7 skirmishes in ashenvale with groups of 20-30 running here and there fighting each other whole day just for fun. I feel like this wouldn't work nowadays. In 2005 people didn't use team speak or voice comm that offen so all those people running around, even tho they formed zerg from time to time were mostly just a random bunch... they were questing, then they saw 15 people going same direction so they joined for a bit and then split away to quest a bit more. Nowaydays it would turn into organized gankfest with sub divisions on teamspeak, discord etc without that original "warband" feel.
