Newts 6 Report post Posted January 3, 2017 I plan on rolling on the fresh server, will be playing directly with a warlock, however I've read that Wand damage talents and holy damage talents are the way froward for leveling, but I want to be good at world pvp certainly around 30 (vamparic embrace) and coming to stv, to be able to handle myself! would it be best just to stick to shadow talents? Will I still be fine for healing dungeons as shadow spec up to around 50/55? TIA

gotmilk0112 10 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 Yeah, do not go for Holy damage talents. If you cast spells all the time, you're going to be drinking all the time. 5 points in Imp Wands and then go Shadow from there. Shadow Word: Pain + Wand will be your two damage sources for the most part. Mind Flay only against PvP targets to slow them; MF's damage doesn't get good until level 40+ when you get Shadowform.
Gardash 11 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 Put your first 5 points in spirit tap. Then put your next 5 points in wand spec. Then put your next 6 points in shadow to get mind flay Then all of your next points into the discipline tree until level 40. The really good shadow stuff is too far down the tree to get, and there's some very useful stuff in the upper discipline tree. Your spec might look something like this at level 39. When you ding 40, respec 31 points into shadow for shadowform, then spend the rest of your talents in disc as you level, starting with wand spec again. This is the most important part - ignore every single stat except spirit. Spirit is what you want. You want all of the spirit you can get in every slot. Every new piece of gear you get, if it has less spirit than the one you're already wearing, don't wear it. The only exception to this is the Dreamweave set you can make at 40. Otherwise, only spirit matters.
gotmilk0112 10 Report post Posted January 5, 2017 (edited) Er...Spirit isn't THAT important, m8. Sure, it's a great stat, but you should not be dropping int or stam for a tiny bit of extra spirit. Especially on a PvP server. There's shitloads of stam/spirit and int/spirit gear. Edited January 5, 2017 by gotmilk0112
Gardash 11 Report post Posted January 5, 2017 (edited) Sure, you can consider stam or int as secondary stats, but stam and int really don't matter while leveling. You should take little damage because you're hiding behind your shield, and if you have a ton spirit, you will regen tons of mana between kills, to the point that you might not have to drink at all between pulls. When I hit 60, I had about 250 spirit, only 10 less spirit than I do now in my nearly full BIS healing setup. It was awesome. But you'll find that almost all gear with good amounts of spirit on it will be paired with stam and/or int, so it won't be an issue. lumpy 1 Report post Posted January 6, 2017 Also you can easily heal every dungeon with any specc up to level 55 I would say. Healing Strath/Brd/Scholo as shadow is even possible if you have a good geared tank. For leveling, go wand till level 40, then Shadowspecc and test around abit what's most damage with least amount of downtime though that depends on your level and what rank you can buy. I think low Mind Flay ranks were not worth it. You can get Theorycraft as addon for some easy testing on that side.
